I'd personally bring in Dijksteel for Smith, but I can see us going unchanged. No complaints from me if we do either, I thought they were excellent on Saturday.

Would like to see Bola in at left back, but he hasn't been on the bench last couple so perhaps it's unlikely. I reckon Crooks may start, perhaps for Jones?

Yep. There was a spell of I’d say pushing a decade where wing backs were seen as some comically out of touch 90s thing. If anyone did go 3 at the back it was definitely with a 5 man midfield not wing backs.

The thing with Carricks 442 is that whilst it has balance, it doesn't have symmetry, yet Wilder was obsessed with symmetry i.e. the team had to function idtenticly on both sides.

Carrick on the other hand has brought in Smith to allow Jones a little more freedom as a winger and played McGree narrow, allowing Giles to attack the space.

It works, but our attacking threat is very different on both sides of the pitch.

A dinosaur is a club that sticks with a set formation and forces players to fit to the system - opposed to getting the best of the players that are available based on their strengths and weaknesses and to some extent the oppositions too.
