Team on Saturday

Diego

Well-known member
Lumley

Dijksteel
Hall
Fry
Bola

Howson
McNair
Tav

Watmore
Ikpeazu
Crooks

Need more from Crooks in that position but I think he will stick with him.

Subs - Daniels, Bamba, Spence, Payero, Morsy, Jones, Coburn

That's what I'd go for too, and I think it's our best 11, just worry about Crooks on the right of a front three. Give that a few games and if it's not working, I'd like to see him more central.

But that bench just goes to show you how thin the squad is.

Suppose there is an argument for Crooks to be centre mid and Tav out wide but I love Tav in the middle. Just think he gives us something different in there

With the addition of a decent striker our team looks good enough to keep pace with the top 6. Perhaps a Billy Sharp until Kieran Scott comes up with someone.

Watmore looked a bit off it on Saturday. Expected him to be running the show up front. Hopefully he gets back into his stride, playing at home for the first time, in front of a big crowd. Would love the team to start off with a win going into Wednesday nights game.

Looks good. You reckon he will go with Daniels?
I'm not sure, I wanted to really like Lumley but he looks so shakey/not commanding/unconfident. He has conceded soft goals preseason, last night and arguably I thought he should of got closer to the one at Fulham he seemed wrong footed and didnt fully extend his dive.

Daniels got into Cup team of the season last year so he has some pedigree and gives genuine competition for No.1 spot

I was reluctant to criticise Lumley at Fulham because I thought he did well and think when a ball goes through 2 players legs before you see it as a keeper you’ve got no chance especially when it’s hard low. So understand him not saving that one. Last night though he should of saved Lavery’s goal and it does make you worry slightly. I would stick with him for now but if that theme continues then we have Daniels to try out. Hope one of them is good enough to make the shirt their own

He's really NOT going to start Daniels in goal...
The team Diego21 suggests is a good shout although I could see us maybe play with 5 at the back as we will probably be up against Chris Martin...

Give it up fella. It says Diego. I haven’t gave you any **** so leave me alone

I think Crooks will eventually move into a central position but we're so short of wingers he's having to play out there currently. Could be an argument for Tav right and Crooks in the middle.

I'd be surprised if Jones starts ahead of Watmore but expect him to be introduced from the bench quickly if things aren't going our way.

I was critical of blooding payero in what was a largely inexperienced side for his first game. I’m glad Warnock agrees.

““In fairness to him, playing alongside your Paddy McNair’s and Jonny Howson’s will be a lot better for him than being thrown in at the deep end like he was tonight.”
