Team for tonight?

I think that this is a game for Fry, rather than McNair, because there will be a lot of crosses in our box. Assuming Archer is fit, then I would start Barlaser and Hackney in midfield and rest Howson.
if Archer has not recovered from Saturday, then Crooks for me as he offers more physical presence up front.
Team: Steffen, Smith, Fry, Lenihan, Giles, Barlaser, Hackney, Forss, Akpom, McGree, Archer.

No chance that’ll be the team because Carrick would be changing a large majority of his successful team players for one team, one game.
Don’t you know Carrick and his principles yet ?
He doesn’t work like that. He trusts his players….
Let’s just hope Cammy A is fit enough to start because I had him down as the difference maker. Cool, fast, clinical and this is just the kind of game he wants to showcase his ability

4-3-3 and 0-1 just like with QPR and Rotherham

------------Steffen------------
Smith----Fry--Lenihan--Giles
Barlaser--Howson--Hackney
----Forss--Akpom--McGree

Yep! Same as before if possible.

Hopefully no changes and no changes of playing style.
Let's go out and try and win the game rather than worrying about what THEY might do

I think he might play Fry as well. McNair is more of a luxury defender but yeah he has been very loyal to winning teams. Might also depend on whether he attributes any blame to McNair on Saturday's goal.

The only time I have seen sheff utd is when they humped us at bramall lane. If this is their usual style of play they pressed high and aggressive. This means their has to be space somewhere and that space is usually found behind a high defensive line. A quick forward is vital to exploit this. So if archer isn't fit stick Forss up front.

That‘s a good point, but then if they are playing like that and we are on the back foot, do you want a target man who holds the ball up pretty well to relieve pressure, with high energy runners in the channels, ie Forss?
Or do you even go Forss in the middle for the reason you state, and have Crooks out right to keep his height and physical presence in the team, against a physical side?

Will really be interesting to see how we play it, if Archer is out.

I don’t regard two changes as a “large majority”. Yes, he trusts his players. Including the ones that did not start the last game. I think that he will start Barlaser soon. If not tonight, then Saturday against QPR.

Same winning team as we’ve been lining up with for me please, with Crooks in IF Archer doesn’t make it.
If crooks plays up top we'll have very little of the ball and be inviting pressure on ourselves against a good team. It's an ok option against lesser teams but don't think it will work against sheff utd. We shall see (or hopefully not if archer is fit).
