Looked for the team predictions thread but couldn't see one. Apologies if I've missed it.

My team. What I would pick rather that what I think Carrick will...

------Hackney--O'Brien-----

-------------Greenwood---------

If Coburn is fit. He goes in for Greenwood.

I don't think he has been. He was good over Christmas.

Was poor against Sunderland and Rotherham. Need to get away from playing Hackney out of position. Get him back in the midfield. To be honest can make arguments for any one of the 3 to partner him but I don't think Barlaser is undroppable based on current form. I'd just like to finally give O'Brien a chance. Especially if we are considering signing him as Howson's replacement

I'd go for that, is O'Brien 100% fit now?

Wouldn't be surprised to see Howson in, O'Brien on the bench.

I didn’t think he was poor against Sunderland, I thought he was the best out of him, Howson and Hackney

O'Brien has showed nothing yet but obviously he has not had much game time. So unless we have really given up on this season and are already trying to plan for next season I don't understand him replacing Howson who has played as well and as bad as any of our three midfield players recently but has been better than them all over the season. Ok Hackney has been played out of position. Carrick needs to choose his best two in their proper positions and that for me would be Hackney and Howson.

That's what I'd go for.

I thought Greenwood had a decent enough game up top on Sunday, and Carrick's made it clear that he doesn't want to play Forss up front unless he has to.
We've got to get Hackney back in to midfield too, he's wasted further forward.

Greenwood on it really contributes BUT if Coburn is fit we need him to get minutes on the pitch so bring him on asap because we need him match fit and greenwood fighting for a start behind him versus forss, Azaz and Mcgree

I don't think we've given up on this season, but I do think we are looking to the future. Howson and Crooks are not the future. Maybe part of the discussions around Carricks new contract has been about speeding up the evolution of the squad.

Howsons been a good servant but at nearly 36 you can't plan a future around him. If there is a deal to be done for Obrien then that could be our midfield pairing for next season so may as well start now.
