Back to business, at last!

What do we reckon then? If the likes of McGree and VDB are back fit do they come straight back in? Lenihan and Howson back in or on the bench?

Tough decisions to be made.

I’d go:

Dieng

Smith
Fry
Lenihan
Engel

Howson
Hackney

Jones
Greenwood
McGree

Coburn

Barlaser unlucky to drop out, but I seen that his missus has just had a baby this week so can see him missing out on starting.

McGree won't be fit for Saturday.

Van den Berg sounds like he will be.

I'd go unchanged, but I expect you're right when it comes to Barlaser.

I would stick with McNair and Fry at the back, so as far as possible unchanged from the last game. Did Carrick confirm Riley was still out?

Carrick comment. “Riley is in a similar position, really. We’re hopeful in terms of his progress, but again, we’ll have to see how the game goes. If I’m being honest, this Saturday’s game is probably going to come too soon for him, but we’ll just have to see when he’s ready to come back and play.”

My one worry is Dembele’s pace, I think we can counter this providing Izzy is asked to track back a little more than normal in support of Smith. I think he is a better option at RB given his experience over RVDB, I am presuming Dijksteel isn’t fit otherwise I might have gone that route.

Looking forward to how we cope with the Mackem female referee, Rebecca Welch, the game after the alleged controversial sending off of that Mackem. It’ll be interesting to see if the boys mind their P’s and Q’s a little more in this one.
