In fairness, I couldn't support them if the shoe was on the other foot. I'd have been rooting for Chelsea.

They'll probably say "Boro are desperate to be hated" but I just genuinely can't stand the Mackems.

Yeah I know but I’ve never seen so many mackems actually say they want us to win a game - Chelsea really are hated by nearly everyone i guess

For me they are different things. Your local rival is the team you most want to beat. For me that has always been Sunderland, although as a child of the 70s Leeds run them close. No result of an individual match matters more to me than beating Sunderland.

I can also take any amount of schadenfreude when they b***r it up. Their recent stint in the third division was a giggle. But they’re still a proper football club supported by proper lads. I would have been more than happy to see them win on Saturday over that oil state monstrosity, and I could never support Chelsea over them.
