Last night was the Player of the Year Awards from Boro Supporters Club 2020 at the Riverside.
Gary Phillipson was the host and started off the questions to award winner Hayden Hackney, young player of the year and Boro manager Michael Carrick. Between them they collected the Player of the Year award on behalf of Chuba Akomb, on European duty for his new club Ajax.
Trophies were presented from the families of long time secretary, Simon Bolton and original founder Peter Hodgson.
Hayden Hackney answered fans about living the dream, local lad making his mark at his local club. His advice to a young fan hoping to make his way in football is to play for enjoyment, something underlined by manager Michael Carrick.
Carrick was very candid in his answers and lets hope he and we get get the win we all crave this weekend. There was so much to admire about the football last season and so much to admire about the man. Hopefully, there will be plenty more supporter nights with Michael Carrick.
