Super Michael Carrick

I think at a minimum he'll want to get us up and prove himself in the prem before even thinking about moving on. Doubt an elite club would really go for him until then anyway. No doubt they're watching though, even at this stage.

But this start for him, not seen anything like it in ages.
An almost identical thing happened 12 months ago.
Wilder got 20 points from his first 9 games.
Carrick's got 19.
Both runs put us into 6th place at the same point of the season.

Somehow I don't see Carrick falling away in the same way that Wilder did.

What impresses me most is Carrick's ability to influence games during the match. I think that's the sign he we will be a top coach.
Touched on it in a few threads, can't even remember the last time we had a coach who does this so effectively. We go down, and for once I don't feel worried and still feel we are going to get back into it and something from the game. Lately, it has been 3 points from behind, take that any day!

The result today was brilliant. Fair enough we were fortunate with the sending off, but it has happened to us more than enough in the past.

Delighted at how this is going on. Not getting carried away, said the same when Wilder arrived that we have finally found our man. This time I am sure. There'll be bumps in the road ahead as he brings in more players to settle in, but I seriously think this is a man in MC who will get us up.

This year is probably a stretch but you never know. Don't see why not!

Carricks post match interview shows the stature of the man, humble, deflecting praise to the players ... oppo to Wilder

It wouldn't be falling away, and neither did Wilder. We are currently experiencing the form required to make the automatics. If we regress to form required to make the playoffs then we might not get in because we are only in there now because other teams have games in hand.

We have performed exceptionally since Carrick took over but we all know the realities of the championship which means we will have good and bad runs. If/when this run comes to an end and we go 3 or 4 games (or more) without a win then it won't be a disaster but you only have to look at last night's opponents who are on a terrible run (5 defeats in the last 7) but they started that run after a great run which took them to the top of the table so they are still in the playoffs.

You need about 1.6+ points per game to make the playoffs over 46 games. You don't need to get them consistently, you go on good and bad runs. We need to calm down and be realistic. We can average 1.6+ppg for the rest of the season but we will go through patches of 2+ppg and patches of under 1ppg. Realistically we probably need this good run to last another 6 games to have a good chance of making the playoffs.

i love how understated he is. Came and clapped the away support, showed respect, but then off down the tunnel, not milking it or making it about him. Suppose that's the beauty of having someone who's been there and done it
I agree but I think unlike wilder who seemed to suffer from imposter syndrome telling us all how good he is/was, carrick doesn’t need to as he has spent his entire career at the top.

Last season Wilder went from 2.2 ppg to 1.8 ppg then 1.5 ppg.
This season he was on 0.9 ppg.

So basically his form went from autos, to play-offs, to midtable, to relegation

His results fell away.

I presumed you were only talking about last season. Yes, this season definitely did.

Last season as well. 29 games in total

First 9 games = 2.1 ppg
Next 10 games = 1.8 ppg
Last 10 games = 1.5 ppg

This season just continued the same downward trend.
11 games = 0.9 ppg
