Sunderland are gonna make the playoffs..

I’d like us to play Sunderland in the playoff semis.. it will be humbling.

We’ve done great this season, but so have they AND they beat us at their place.

Winner plays Luton?
Lets be honest, we beat them at home under Wilder when we were going through a bad spell, we lost away from home based on one mistake, don't get me wrong we didn't play well, but we won't play that badly twice.

Their fans seem cocky that they would do us over two legs, the table doesn't lie, we are a much better team than them. Without Stewart and Baath they are significantly weaker at both ends of the pitch to when we played them last. In fact only 4 outfield players when they beat us 2-0 played yesterday! They have some good ball carriers and they are hard working and tenacious, but you need a bit more than that to keep us from scoring.

I think their fans fail to remember, when they were battering us at their place, it still took a sending off AND a penalty to eventually put them in front....they even missed the penalty 😂

Like you say, they're without some big key players since we last played them, whilst we've gone from strength to strength and also now have Archer firmly on fire.

Totally agree, I was saying yesterday that I think we'd beat Sunderland about 6-2 over two legs.

I think they could scrape a 1-0 or 2-1 win over us in the first leg but I could see us putting 3 or 4 past them in the 2nd leg.

If they do make the play offs and we face them in the semi-finals. I would be very interested to see what the allocations would be like for Middlesbrough Fans at the Stadium of light, Last time we received 2142 tickets which is less than 5% of their capacity (4.4% if my maths are right). If we repaid the favour, their allocation at the Riverside would be 1485, much less than the 2575 they received back in September.

Plus they have Mogga in charge/

In a final I'd be a bit more worried, but over 2 legs and the fact a lot of their first 11 are crocked for the season, then I'd be extremely disappointed if we didn't put them away over two legs.

They're unbeaten in 6 or 7 now?

It would be hilarious if they did bottle it with 2 games to go, mind.
we can beat any of the teams over 2 legs I think. it minimises the chance that luck or bad refering can take you out, or simply not turning up for one of the games

its the single match where a ref or another team can get a run of luck and then defend it to the max, but wba were only able to do that to us with a 2 goal cushion, 1 goal isn't that secure and if you invite the pressure and we equalise all momentum and confidence is lost (its why I always hated pullis defending 1 goal leads that often got taken away from us lol)

that sunderland match if frys foul never occured I think could have been a different result all together.
I think if it stayed 0-0 and 11 men on the pitch then archer could have changed the game when he come on at 65 mins, he certainly changed the watford game when he started the match after and we were suddenly a different team.

both teams did well against us and rightfully won, but the same situations should not occur in further matches and on our day we can beat any of the play off contenders. its our best chance of a play off promotion I have seen, but when it boils down to a single match, that is a always a lottery

A good semi final imo

What is the matter with you newy, you are buttering them up like they are special friends. They aren't.
I hope they don't make the play offs, but am sure we will stuff them if we meet.
It gets worse.. now I want them to think Luton in the playoffs!!

Millwall vs Blackburn 1-0
Preston vs Sunderland 0-1
Middlesbrough vs Coventry 3-0
Swansea vs West Brom 1-2

Crumbs, 69 would be a low total for the playoffs. Maybe a record low? I know we got that in the early 90s when we lost at Barnsley last day, but the playoffs went down to 7th that year, so it doesn't really count.

Whoever gets 6th will be very lucky

Under Carrick we have been the 2nd best team in the Championship.. and only just imo

We’ve got a good chance, I’m not taking anything for granted.Boro and Luton have secured 3rd and 4th place.. most likely to be the final. Other teams in the mix I’d like to see Sunderland in there even thought it will be tight. I don’t think we’ll see them in the semis.. what a final that would be thought!!

I don’t want Coventry to beat us at the Riverside.. they still might make the plays offs.. more than likely. They go 70points with a draw and most likely on goal difference if Sunderland lose to Preston.
