How much is it gonna cost to supervise and run this and how much value would actually be gained as most of them will toss it off at every opportunity as they don’t want to be there…..not that we’ll ever find out anyway as it’s not happening

Apparently, the money is coming from diversion of the Levelling Up fund (I'm not joking!)

Plenty of countries still have mandatory service although I like the US position on military service (selective service). From the conservative angle it might be something which is a vote loser.

However, in the broad sense of the term “military service” could mean supporting your local police or emergency services, which could go a long way to reducing the amount of crime we see on the streets etc.
