Sunak doesn't know how to use a hammer...

I like facts equally as much as I dislike the tories. Therefore I must point out that he was told to use it that way. It is a planishing (thanks for the correction, Hap) hammer used for jewellery making, and using it the correct way would damage the polished hammer face. He was simply given the wrong tool for the job.

The facts are, he was humiliated by his own PR team again and he has no concept of how this would look as he has no concept of what normal people do.

I agree with that, totally.

No awareness of everyday people’s experience. It looks ridiculous, even if that was (and I don’t know) the correct way of carrying out that task - to use the side of the hammer, rather than reach for a second hammer, knowing you mustn’t damage the planishing hammer’s face.

I only know what a planishing hammer is because I made a pigs ear out of using one, in metal work class at Hustler. Hardly everyday.

Has anyone used Community Notes on X? Good way of someone providing context to Tweets. There are some good ones on gaslighting official Tory Party tweets.

Long may his PR team keep up the good work, but there is no way that he had no concept of how it would look ‘as he has no concept of what normal people do.’

He questioned the fact that she said to hit it with the side of the hammer as he knew that’s not how normal people use hammers. Rather than kicking up a fuss and asking for a proper hammer he did as the professional instructed.

That's not the point I'm making.

Sunak tries to do normal things for PR stunts and whatever it is, looks awkward and cringe worthy.

It's not about using a hammer on its side or just doing what he's told without any follow-up questions, he just looks ridiculously out of his comfort zone (where normal people reside).

He and his team must have watched that back (they didn't originally post the unedited version btw) and went "yeah, man of the people right there". Completely oblivious to how it would look to everyone else.

The point I was making, which is the point you replied to, was that Sherlock got it wrong about Sunak not knowing how to use a hammer correctly. I pointed out that wasn’t the case. I made no reference to his PR team or how he doesn’t relate to normal people (I agree that he doesn’t because he and his family are worth £100s of millions). I simply pointed that Sherlock’s post was factually incorrect.
