It's also really dumb. I think I know what she is trying to do, but it isn't going to work. The catchment of voters who agree with this is small to begin with and furthermore, most voters are concerned with paying their bills, getting doctors appointments and sending their children to underfunded, crumbling schools.

Finally, if immigration was a worry for you, the tories haven't managed to control it in any way shape or form.

What a horrible horrible creature

“She accused Sir Keir Starmer, the Labour leader, of “being in hock” to extremists and “taking the Speaker hostage”

Dear me she’s as mad as Vlad.

I'm not sure it is a small targeted group. I see a lot of people day to day at work and I am shocked at how many read these things and believe immigration and foreigners are the reason for all our problems.

I live in a 98% white, middle England location where most of these people won't see any signs of immigration, yet people are quick to tell me how bad it is and how its impacting services they should be receiving. These people are also quick to point our how bad London is due to Sadiq Khan- most have not been to London in years.

The newspapers and dog whistles control a huge narrative.

If I didnt work with people the bubble I live in would be far removed from these opinions. Brexit was similar. I'm not sure I know anyone socially that voted it, but I met a lot through work that did.

I'd dearly love to see her dumped on her ărse at the next election, but her constituency of Fareham (and the vast majority of Hampshire) is intensely right wing so it's highly unlikely.

I live in a mostly white southern village and I see much the same. Most of the UK isn't white middle class villages though.

Interestingly enough I live in mid beds, mad nads old constituency and labour kicked the tories out at the by election, which was nice to see.

It worries me how many times I hear "They are all the same" and "They wouldnt do things any differently". Often lazy discussion while stating how managers are ruining the NHS. Followed with "What about all these diversity officers", "It's all too woke"

This is parroted a lot and there is no depth in those opinions but they are held strong.
