Incorrect, this is a myth put out by grifters like Farage and Braverman as an excuse for us to not fulfil our duties as defined by the UNHCR of which we are signees, there is absolutely nothing within that agreement that mentions first safe state despite those that should know better repeating that lie.

Everything you are concerned about has a provision in law or could be covered by changes in legislation and the problem is the failure by Government to work efficiently and within their own remit.

There's an open invite for 300k Hong Kong citizens to settle in the UK, if lack of facilities and infrastructure were the issue then how is this doable ?

There used to be an expectation that as you get older you tend to lean a bit further towards the right; you know because *insert lazy cliche here*.

What I think I'm starting to find that, for all its sins, social media and 24 hour news is better educating people now as to what is actually happening.

You'll still get the trolls or genuinely stupid - Crusoe, you can decide which you are - but most people can find out information about issues that they are genuinely concerned about.

Imagine if you were Crusoe and held such strong beliefs about a subject, but then didn't bother to find out anything about it in terms of legality while trying to inform people about that legality. It's not like the information isn't in the public domain.

There is always an argument that we should look after our own. I get that. The problem is, that the people who use that argument are least likely to want to look after our own either.
 
Exercise for the likes of Crusoe: you accused me of using hysterical language before, especially when I explained Braverman was a fascist.

Try this little thought experiment: take any piece of right wing press literature or government speech where they are trying to create this fake “migrant crisis”. Replace the word “Albanian” with the word “Jew”. See how it reads then…

Do you not think associating SmallTown voting Tory and linking it to Windrush is suggesting he's racist? Language is important and FWIW I don't in any way think you were suggesting that. But it works both ways.

Personally, I think SmallTown a fool for voting Tory but equally I respect him admitting so and that it was a mistake, especially given the level of vitriol he gets on here from several posters despite it being done to the death a hundred times over.
 
Does anyone else not find some of the reactions on here sad? When did we lose our basic humanity? Why can’t we all live a life with compassion? Why do some people have to hate other humans for waiting to save their families? It’s a really worrying time in the U.K. that the government can say such inhumane and nasty things and people defend them. Please try and be better. Albanians, English, Syrians, Ukrainians, Russians are all people. Why the hate?

But you mentioned him voting Tory after the Windrush scandal; surely its clear what the inference might be? I don't at all think you meant it that way but it's easy to see what some might draw that conclusion.

I'm not defending SmallTown voting Tory by the way as frankly I can't fathom why anyone other than a select few would vote for them. But he has openly said numerous times that he regrets it and wouldn't vote Tory again so people getting cheap shots in constantly is somewhat stomach turning.

Yes it could. A parrallel was made to the National Front. Why? Because this person of Kenyan/Indian heritage doesn't hold the right views. There is racialising present there.
 
I see 30p lLee has waded in, again repeating the “illega” lie that has suckered in a few on here and actually saying “send them back” bare, out and out racism from an MP. As a country we need to be better than that. We need humanity and decency
