Stuart Adamson

Absolutely loved The Crossing when it came out. A really uplifting feel to it, and when they followed up with the Wonderland single loved that too. I'd loved The Skids too, and post-Skids (Jobson had left to form The Armoury Show) there was no bigger fan of Big Country than me.

Then Steeltown came out and I thought it was dour and depressing. To me, a polar opposite to The Crossing. Personally I was disappointed with it. Look Away, One Great Thing, and Where The Rose Is Sown were a welcome return for me. Great singles, but I never got them back if you will.

Mortified when Stuart died. He was my first guitar hero.

Did anyone on here remember meeting up with Big Country in the services on the M1 after the Notts County FA cup match? Can't remember if it was Trowell or Woodall. There were loads of Boro in there and I got Stuart's autograph. Bruce Watson had dyed his hair a burgundy colour, Butler wasn't there but Mark Unpronounceable Name (as Smash Hits used to call him 🤣) was. They all looked rough as gashouse cinders 🤣

I was at the County game but we were on the train that day - would loved to have met Stuart and the rest of the band. I can’t think of another band like BC since Stuart’s passing. I shall be playing some of his songs and raise a glass to great man tonight
