Strikers we should be looking at.

I don't think we'll be taking a punt on unproven overseas players, if Warnock's got a year left he's going to go for tried and tested players that he knows will do the business....

If it's tried and tested we're after, it will have to be a veteran. We can't afford tried and tested strikers in their prime.

We don't need a proven goalscorer at this level. That phrase has pretty much disappeared now we've had a proven goalscorer at this level on our books for four years and he's been pretty ****. So was Jordan Rhodes but at least we got our money back.

What we need is a player who can hold the ball up, who can win his share of headers in the air and will do plenty of running. Failing that we need a head the ball. We don't need someone who scores lots of goals. We need someone who helps the team score lots of goals.
A Wilkinson, a fjortoft, a Nugent.

Mbenza 5 goals 8 assists =13
Diedheiou - 10 goals , 1 assist = 11
Charlie Wyke - 26 goals , 4 assists = 30
Michael Smith - 9 goals , 3 assists =12
Joe Pigott - 15 goals , 5 assists = 20
James Collins - 10 goals , 1 assist = 11
All fit the above requirements , so plenty of choice .
I think the forward DOES need to score goals , you can't rely on the ones behind him to get enough , unless they are prolific

Put 2/3 of the ones below Behind one/ two of them
Dion Charles - 18 goals - 3 assists = 21
Rhys Healey - 10 goals - 1 assist = 11
Jerry Yates - 16 goals - 4 assists = 20
Carlos Mendes Gomes - 12 goals , 3 assists = 15
Jorge Grant - AM - 15 goals - 11 assists = 26 ( out for season with injury )
Stick 3 out of them 5 behind one / two of the top 6 above and you would get goals I believe , although not proven in championship ( neither was Watkins / Vardy)

Mbenza , Diedheiou , Smith and Collins would be the proven championship front 4 ..Could they play together ? Yes ,Colin's behind Smith, the other 2 wide of them, but more likely replace each other in rotation .47 goals and assists between them . All free transfers

Wyke , Pigott , Charles , Yates and Gomes have 106 goals and assists between them , add Jorge Grant behind with his 26 and you have 132 goals ,so that is an alternative worth considering , as wages will be much lower , but goals is much higher .Could they play together ?Yes .Can they step up ? That's the risk , but worth taking.
Also All free transfers , Yates apart , and good ages.
Maybe a nice mix ? Problem being , every team wants the same players we do.
Jorge Grant - AM -15 goals - 11 assists - 26 - out of contract so a no brainer , ( out for the season with injury and may need operation )
So care needed to check his fitness )

The manager has hinted he wants strikers who have done it before in the Championship. We really haven't got much money either, so I think the list will be quite limited...There's no way Dwight Gayle would come here, he's earning a fortune at Newcastle. Oliver Giroud must be a joke ?
We must sign a target man type and we will also be looking at the loan market.
Simply Red has already identified some of these...

Billy Sharp
David McGoldrick
Charlie Wyke
Kamil Grosiki
Famara Diedheiou
Keinan Davis - Loan
I also really like the look of Keane Lewis-Potter at Hull City as a wild card, he"s only 20 but has been getting some rave reviews recently.
It was a joke mate. Don't take it too seriously hahaha.

2 of your suggestions is realistic (Diédhiou and Wyke) and rest of it nah. Some of Simply Red suggestions is a good shout there.
Eddie Nketiah, 21, Arsenal, 5 goals in 25 games.

Jonas Wind 22, Copenhagen, 11 goals in 18 games. 6'3 so fits into Warnock's mould.

Siriki Dembélé, 24, Peterborough, 7 goals in 33 games.

Marcos Paulo, 21, Fluminense, 8 goals in 38 games.

Folarin Balogun, 19, Arsenal, just look as his goal scoring record.
Only one is realistic in your post Newy and that is Peterborough player.

none of them are realistic until they happen

The obvious one we seem to want is/was
Famara Diedhiou

other possibles?
Scott Hogan
Lyle Taylor

Season loan?
Leo Bonatini
Connor Wickham
Chris Wood
Ashley Barnes
Matej Vydra
Jay Rodriguez (unlikely)

Luke Jephcott would offer us something too

Cauley Woodrow also but probably unaffordable. As an aside Would deffo sign Mowatt if we can

Luke Jephcott, Plymouth, 21 years old, 18 goals this season.

Jean Pierre N’same, Young Boys Bern, 27 years old, 67 goals in 107 games. 6’2 so fits Warnocks mould.

Paul Onuachu, 26, Genk, 34 goals in 52 games, a towering 6’7.

Christoffer Nyman, 28, IFK Norrkopping, 28 goals in 58 games.

Abderrazak Hamdallah, 30, Al-Nassr, just look at his goal scoring record.
Abderrazak Hamdallah is clearly way to good for the Saudi league!

Wages is the issue with your list el guapo don't you think ?
Some good suggestions , but I think we may struggle to pay anywhere near what they are on , unless the premier clubs subsidise .
Even so , they are temporary fixes we can't afford long term .( like Bolasie)
We need to go down the Brentford route and find our own .

I don’t disagree. There is No doubt season loans would have to be subsidised. I’d prefer longer term solutions (jephcott perhaps?) but we also really need the tried and tested at this level or above if we want to challenge......we have shown we don’t have the scouting to do a Brentford overnight in terms of finding gems; it’s a difficult one.

I’d never heard of him to be honest so googled. While his record is impressive it is only Saudi, and I bet we couldn’t afford his wages anyway......unless the Riverside falls within the Freeport and we can get creative with our accounting!!

We simply need a player who can hold it up. A Keifer Moore 'type' (although at 2mil he was defo one that got away).

Those type of players usually only get 10-12 goals a season. It's the all round play they bring that will assist us. They are a handful and will increase setplay goals etc for others.

We don't need a 'fox in the box' type. They simply wouldn't fit the system and I'm confident we ain't going to change style. I think Diédhiou fits the bill especially as he's free. Although I'm sure a few clubs will he interested.

The big lad at Rotherham always looks a handful (Smith?). Then again he's not overly a goal scorer. We are crying out for someone to 'occupy' and bully 2 CBs. Fletcher is big but not physical or nasty enough for me.

Pigott 20 goals/assists Wyke 30 goals / assists
Dion Charles 21 G/A Jerry Yates 20 G/A Carlos Mendes Gomes 15 G/A
Jorge Grant 26 G/A
132 goals / assists between them UP TO NOW
The Brentford model , and good ages at
Wyke 28, Pigott 27, Charles 25,Gomes 22, Grant 26 , Yates 24
Score, entertain and win , how good would that be . A front 6 to choose from who all score and create , & Tav and Watmore .
AND ALL FREE ( Yates apart )
Just the other end to sort .
Karl-Johan Johnsson / Angus Gunn
Dijksteel Fry Declan Gallagher Bola
Morsy / McNair /Alex Mowatt
Grant / Powell
Gomes Yates Charles
Wyke / Pigott
2 captain / leaders added in Gallagher and Mowatt.
More likely Neil's choices would look like this below , which I like but would cost more in wages , but , all are free which softens the blow .
Powell / Mowatt
Mbenza. / James Collins / Diedheiou
Michael Smith
Hall / Spence / Coulson /Howson / Fisher /Tav and Watmore to add to both formations to add depth .
And Ayo Obileye CH DM cover , & Corey Blackett Taylor ,LB LW ,on a free for plan B
Outlay £1.5m Johnsson , or Angus Gunn on loan ( 3rd choice now ) Joel Dixon free
Michael Smith £1m , both paid for with the sale of Akpom, Saville & Wing -£3.5m ( maybe )
( Jerry Yates added as he fits the bill , but competition from BRFC at £700k -£1m )

It’s going to be an interesting summer to see what we can do once the remaining big earners go and a few, like Wing, off-loaded. I reckon NW will get decent value for our £ and what we need to be very competitive.
