HEADLINER ANNOUNCEMENT
Headlining the ARC stage at this year's Stockton Calling festival are none other than Liverpool indie rock revivalists The Zutons!
🎷

After over 16 years away, the beloved purveyors of sax-infused funk and indie floor-fillers are back in full force.
Festival goers can expect a high-energy set packed with classics like Valerie and Why Won't You Give Me Your Love? alongside brand new cuts from their forthcoming album The Big Decider
⚡️

The Zutons replace The Enemy who can no longer perform due to unforeseen circumstances.

Replacing The Enemy………I was only going to see them (and The Bluetones)…..might not bother now.

Saw them at the festival in the Boro about 20 years ago. They were great, with some hot sax.
A few years ago aI had a party at my home to celebrate 25 years living in NZ. My sons came with some of their friends, but it was all my music. Anyway the Zutons' Valerie came on and a few of the young girls were complaining what a crap cover it was of Amy's song. They wouldn't believe that the Zutons wrote it until I showed them the credits on Amy's album and explained Mark Ronson connection.
I read a great interview a few years agon in one of the music mags (Uncut I think) with Dave McCabe and THE Valerie. She was his US girlfriend Valerie Star, a makeup artist.
The song's about how she almost went to jail after several driving offences, which led to her cancelling a move to the UK to be with him.
Deffo recommend going to see them

I got to see them in Hyde Park some years back when I had gone to see The Who. Both The Zutons and Razorlight were brilliant that afternoon.

Saw them on the banks of Loch Lomond a lifetime ago. Some local band opened, then the Zutons who lifted the lid off the place, followed by huge American rock band Nickleback. After that the headline REM, Michael Stipe walked on, totally ignored Nickleback and said “how the **** can we follow the Zutons”……….total class!

I won't be there as I am unfortunately double booked and in Manchester for Everything Everything. Having The Zutons play somehow softens the blow for me as They are not my cup of tea. I'm sure looking at this thread they may even encourage more people to go to S.C. Hope so as it deserves to sell out. Some good acts playing.

I was also at that gig!!

Having a listen through the Spotify play list over the last couple of weeks.

A lot of talent over all the stages, possibly the strongest yet.

I am liking the sound of Reignmaker, CVC The Lilacs, Megan Wyn, Tina Sandwich and the Kairos.. Which maps out the evening, leaving me to wander about for the afternoon ans stumble across something great.

Should be another great day..

There are some excellent bands on the bill and I haven't even begun to check out the many I don't know.

Abi Zuton's legs can't possibly be anywhere near as good as the used to be, can they? I'm probably going to see Wings Of Desire (or Venus Grrls) when they are on anyway.

Some damn annoying clashes already for me.
