Steve Gibson Q and A Latest

I expect the tone to be more alan Titchmarsh than jeromy paxman no chance of anything probing
ho ho ho.. thanks for your time steve.. we really appreciate everything you do for us and the town and you’ve brought some really great nights to the riverside stadium.. some huge names and we’ve been so lucky as fans to have you as a chairman.

you being a fan I can understand how incensed you must have been with the way that this season’s renewal were handled.. we all see the super friendly and enigmatic dude to your personality.. but I imagine when something like that happens.. then you must have had the same reaction as we did.. being a fellow fan and having such a deep understanding of the fan base.

did it come as a shock to those responsible to see you in such a fit of rage.. and what do you think the long term effects will be from that issue which I assume you are still dealing with.

My question to Steve,

With the changes you made to recruiting and bringing in a head of football in Kieron Scott, do you feel the plan is currently on track and how do you see the club evolving further?

The Akpom sale funded all of last summer’s spending.

The Rogers sale will cover all of this summer’s spending.

That’s the point. They’re out playing rather than sitting on our bench.
The keepers should be fighting for the 1st team shirt .
I am not a Dieng fan , and think he concedes too many goals, the 2 Boro lads should get a chance , like Safc gave there young keeper a chance.
The sales have resulted in a much inferior squad ? With a gaping hole up front .

They’re better off playing a full season somewhere, surely?

Is our squad weaker this season, if you take out the players we borrowed?
Glover - 18-games-24 goals conceded - 5 clean sheets
Dieng - 22-games - 34 goals Conceded - 5 clean sheets
Sol Brynn - 32-games 36-goals conceded - 10 clean sheets
Liam Roberts - 24 games - 26 goals conceded - 7 clean sheets.
Zach Hemming - 25 games - 29 goals conceded - 9 clean sheets

Suggests our 3 keepers are doing better , and are worth a chance.
But Roberts is OOC June ?

Can you please reconsider your ludicrous pricing of season tickets compared to other Championship clubs?

Perhaps take a more considered approach with your transfers instead of wasting millions on players who never play, and instead prioritise your supporters.

Nothing against the lad, but the Matthew Hoppe transfer fee and salary since joining could have subsidised season ticket prices significantly. He barely even makes the bench. There are examples of this every season where money is wasted on players who simply do not contribute. When season ticket prices continue to rise, I do feel frustrated how my money is reinvested at times.

This all feels a bit Oliver Twist - like begging for an interview, but ending up with a curt “send me some questions from the plebs and I’ll see what i can do” 😳 what happened to the days when he went live on the radio to take questions
I agree merlin....its very cap in hand...but then this is common at other clubs

Main question if allowed only one - Ask Kieren Scott. Are players like
Matheus Saldanha
Kaly Sene
Tochi Chukwuani
Ladislav Krejci
Realistic targets we can build our hopes up of signing ? Or pipe dreams ?
Have the recruitment team heard of them ?
We were told of ‘The model ‘
So why sell assets like Tav , Spence , Rogers to not invest in the next version ? £30m + in ?+ Akpom £12m
Then go against the model with Ayling ?

We have 2 keepers getting rave reviews out on loan but brought in 2 inferior keepers in Jones
And Glover ?

Ticket price increases will reduce the crowd going on current mood . Can they have a re think ?

Can we have a Marqee over the fan zone as in the beer festival? And can we sell cans instead of draught to improve the service.
And finally
Was it a joint 3 / 4 man decision to throw the towel in for this season by not signing a striker but selling Rogers and Crooks ?

I reckon I could give you the answers for those you’d likely receive off him.

I doubt the club will know of those players, I don’t know of those players and the club has a very small scouting team (Scott’s words in his last interview)

We sold Akpom because his contract was up in 12 months and if we didn’t we’d have lost him on a free, as he didn’t want to sign a new contract. That’s just good business sense. Same with Tav. Spence represented good value for a player that 1) didn’t want to be here and 2) wasn’t in our plans.

Didn’t spend the Rogers money because they didn’t think there was anyone available at a fair price. Had targets, but clubs knew we had cash after the sale and asked for unrealistic fees. So we walked away.

We loaned Ayling because Smith got injured. No other reason. That’s not going against the model, that’s covering injury.

It’s better for our younger keepers to play regularly rather than sit as third choice. Jones will only play in a worst case scenario. Better an ageing journeyman sitting as third choice rather than a promising youngster.

Absolutely no chance they’ll rethink season ticket prices. They’d have to refund those who’ve already paid.

Haven’t thrown the towel in, Rogers wanted to go. Crooks wanted to go. Can’t blame either of them. Better not to keep players around who want to be elsewhere.

Mr Gibson.....
Several managers have taken your eyes out washed them and put them back in....much to their shame....financially

Maclaren.( but he is our most succesfil manager so gets a pass) ...pulis....Gary monk ......abilitaayyy wilder....and let's be right there are elements of scummery about them all

Are you guilty of seeing the best in people or do you enjoy having your pants pulled down and spanked mercilessly and with zest....

And why when we have a manager who clearly is honest clearly is a nice well respected guy are we not backing him....

The most well connected manager since.robbo ....and we are going to pi&& him off....you can see it....he's getting miffed...

Fans are getting restless..

do you feel it....? What do you plan to do to re estaish the boro as a team with bite and skill and panache moving forwards
