Steroids in schoolboy rugby

That is interesting. Lots if vídeos seem to have emerged recently of SA schoolboys playing like complete beasts. Maybe we have an explanation?

My friends son got as far as England's U19s.
Steroid 'advice' was widely available esp from 16 onwards.
The 'line' was clear but expectation of progress was equally clear.
These kids are trying to fulfil a dream - hardly surprising some would take every chance possible.
The player's chose with the full knowledge of the medical and coaching staff...….

I can’t imagine it’d benefit a footballer as much. That article doesn’t say anything about it being widespread. I know the springboks have often been suspected of it.

I did a 2 week course of steroids for a medical condition. I was running at the time and I had remarkable improvements in my lung capacity

I had a short course of steroids from my GP and felt fantastic afterwards. My running improved (short term) too.

I know it’s a big thing in the amateur leagues of South Wales.

I’m convinced they’ll be a growth hormone rugby scandal coming out in the years ahead, when they look back on players tests and have better testing.
