Stephen Hendry's snooker comeback on Tuesday

Will play Matthew Selt in the Gibraltar Open (in Milton Keynes) on Tuesday night.

Not sure what to make of the comeback. I think he could struggle big time having not played since 2012. Standard has gone up massively since then, but who knows. I'd love it if rolled back the years.

Judd Trump has said he'd be surprised if he wind any matches

Oh I thought he’d cancelled the come back - it’s back on will be interesting but I’m kinda with judd trunp.

He was meant to come back earlier but he pulled out as I think he felt he wasn’t ready. Was due to play in last weeks Welsh open but due to a computer glitch he didn’t.

I’m inclined to agree with Trump too (a very dangerous phrase to use on this board)

I’d love to see him win on Tuesday though

Be interesting to see how he does, trumps comments were interesting in to why Hendry retired at the age he was and his position in the game

It's not a sport tbf. OK, not a physical (or interesting) one. As long as his eyes are working the same and he doesn't have some sort of palsy, he'll be fine

Out first round

Will beat Selt easily if he is really wants it. As a Billiards and Snooker player from Teesside, which is the the hotbed of indoor games in this country, I know that age is nothing. Players round here such as Alf Nolan were making 100 breaks at billiards in their 80s. I remember Alfie Cook from Redcar made a 100 break against us when he was in his 80s. As long as you can see age is nothing. OK, against the top 8, the standard has been raised but the old lads, Ronnie, Higgins and Williams are still winning the big comps. Wouldn’t surprise me if Hendry does the same.

I find snooker very interesting plus the length of time they play for I would argue is physically demanding more mentally demanding but still to win a tournament it must be a week or mores worth of an average of four five hours snooker a day or something like that.

There’s a big difference between scoring a ton in the club against some kids and beating a top 32 player after 9 years of not competing. I hope he wins but it will be very tough. He was struggling to compete before he retired

Alf Nolan, Teesside legend saw him playing in the Ironops a few times when they still had the snooker tables...

Whenever I hear him mentioned it makes me remember when I went to Sheffield to see a band years ago. Went with the wife so made a weekend of it. We were staying in the same hotel where Hendrie was staying during the Snooker at the Crucible.
Noticed him with his mates bring his own bottle of wine into the bar order one glass from the bar then top his glass up under the table. He was one of the top players at the time and I always thought he must have a bob or two. Prices in the bar weren't that outlandish for a hotel IIRC.
