I thought the guy resigned for not being elected into the Labour Party for historic anti Semitic posts on social media.

Don’t think you can assume independents are shy tories just because Preston is.

Oh, totally agree, I know Lee, and yes he did apply to join the party and he was refused. His reasoning for resigning is that he was frustrated because he couldn't get anything done as a single Indie, it's simply why party politics work. You have a much bigger say as a group.

And not all Indies are Tories, some are genuine, some are far right, some are far left, some in the middle. But in a town like Middlesbrough the better chance of you getting elected as a Tory is to stand as an Indie.

Massive respect to anyone who puts their money where their mouth is, and goes for it, to try and make a difference!
It’s easy for the likes of me to bitch and moan and vent on an anonymous Internet forum but it takes real balls and dedication to step up and try to do something about it 👍

Hope you'll work with anyone who wants to to improve the town, and not refuse simply because fellow councillors don't have the right colour rosette.
