Spurs announcing Djed at long last

Understandable bitterness in response to his bellendery but part of me wishes hes been here last season helping us to promotion and not Forest. Its a shame that he fell out with certain figures at the Club but gelled under Cooper.

No bitterness from me. Good luck and thanks for the cash return.

Cant help but feel if we had got Wilder in the summer Spence would have still been our player and he would have stood out even more than he did at Forest, he would have been perfect for this side. Regardless its finally over and we actually have some money to reinvest without loosing a key player, need to make the most of that

I remember Woody inviting him around to his house for Xmas in 2019 after giving him his debut.

Woody helped Djed Spence to become a professional as the staff at Forest have.

If he stayed at Fulham would he playing in their under 23s? or loaned out to Wealdstone?

Would of been a good sub

I think he would have started over Jones, but even if he didnt having someone like Spence to replace him when his form dropped or when he was injured would have probably been enough to get us in the top 6

Probably could have fit both into the same side anyway, Spence/Jones playing LWB would have still been more effective than Taylor or Bola

Djed Spence’s first words as Tottenham player promises fans what he will bring to Antonio Conte’s team

New Tottenham signing Djed Spence has promised to bring “excitement, skill and speed” after becoming the club’s sixth summer recruit.

The right-back has joined on a five-year deal and will compete with Matt Doherty, Emerson Royal and potentially Lucas Moura in Antonio Conte’s wing-back position.

Spence’s Spurs move caps an impressive rise to prominence for the youngster, and he has now told his new fans what they can expect.

"I bring excitement, skill, speed, I just want to excite the fans," he told SpursTV.

The 21-year-old came through Fulham's academy before he moved to Middlesbrough in 2018 but saw his time on Teesside disrupted by the club's lack of managerial stability.

Spence was signed by Boro during Tony Pulis' tenure but earned his first consistent run under the stewardship of ex-Tottenham centre-back Jonathan Woodgate, who would be sacked after a year in the summer of 2020.

Next manager Neil Warnock used the versatile defender regularly during the 2020-21 campaign but let him move on and sign for Forest on a temporary basis last season.

Spence's form at the City Ground earned him England Under-21 recognition in March and he made 46 appearances, scoring three goals to help his loan club go up via the Sky Bet Championship play-offs in May.

Don’t get the bitterness?

He played alright for us, showed great potential. Warnock wanted ‘a proper right back’ at the time we had Dijksteel & Fisher.. Fisher got injured so we brought in Peltier.

Sammy Ameobi got injured so instead of sending Isaiah Jones out on loan to QOTS he got his chance here.

Djed Spence did well for Forest, where he was rumoured to be going to Spurs for £10m he went for £12.5m (which would have happened if he’d stayed)

We’ve got Isaiah Jones, we’ve got the song.. happy days!

Imagine £10m for Djed then having to spend money on a replacement.. £5m for Djed?

£12.5m plus a replacement who is worth that and more. Great but if business.

Hats off to Warnock for giving Djed a premier league career!

Plenty of people at the club who have helped massively with his development I'm sure. U23 coaches, Woodgate, other first team players. Even Wilder agreeing to let him stay at Forest (who were very much a rival at the time).

Says a lot about him that a spat with Warnock means he can't bring himself to acknowledge the role the club has played in his career.

He's either a ridiculously petty individual or more has gone on (or both). There were rumours that none of the first team squad wanted him to come back......

Me either, all we know is there is an issue with Norman Conquest which has apparently impacted on his family, which sounds horrible. But that said, without knowing the details, we can't really do anything other than ignore it or vilify him.

Boro fans criticising him though aren't doing it in the vein of Norman's experience with spence though so I see that as a separate issue and he probably is a massive bell and hut when it comes down to thanking forest etc or being called a forest star I don't really have any issue with that, he was a forest star not a boro star, and it was cooper that got the best out of him not Warnock or woodgate for debuting him or loaning him out.

See the positive sides, if he is is a huge bell end then he is gone and we got 12.5m+ for him, which was much needed. Begs the question that without that cash injection, what exactly was the plan for this season?

He won't even get in the 1st 11. Thanks for the money and time for us to forget all about him.

I can only see it as an unbelievable deal for us. How many times do you sell a player for that money and not weaken your team. Kudos to recruitment. Its ok slagging them off for ones that have not worked out but you have to give it both ways.

I am also sick to death about hearing about him.
He had a chance with us and didnt take it but managed to put in a good season for forest and we made a cart load of money on him.
Clearly has an attitude problem which is why he wont be missed. By us or forest.

that is absolute cringe

I agree but it could have been even worse, all that was missing was a whispered "I see Djed people" on the audio track. Just as well I don't work for Spurs' twitter. 🤣

As for Spence. He has shown himself to be petty and very small time considering the job Boro did in lifting him back up off the football scrap heap. As others have said no doubt countless coaches have helped his development and he got his first significant mens footy playing for us. I'm sure with time and more maturity he'll regret his petty twitter responses. I've no hate for him but no particular fondness either. Good luck to the boy, Conte the disciplinarian is either going to make or break him.

Glad this is over just to stop Boro fans waffling on about him(hopefully). I couldn't care less what he has tweeted, he was crap for us and he's made us a fortune so props to the club for that.

I couldn't care less what he thinks of our club tbh. The only relevance he has was how much money we could get for him. No-one wanted him back here and he didn't want to come back. Its a win, win situation in my book.

I would question the validity of the twitter post tribute he posted regarding forest though given that he made it absolutely clear he didn't want to return there and his only interest was in joining spurs.
