Sporar

Don't think we got the recruitment right with Sporar.

Wilder likes a clinical finisher/box player to finish off moves (and do little else other than close opposing CDs)

He can play that role but the dearth of quality behind him meant he was constantly dropping deep to influence play and link attacks. Blunted his efficiency at the top end of the park but he's a decent player.

Similar to De Roon, signed to (and played) as a DM but would frequently play higher up as there were few others in the team with his technical ability.

His Panathanaikos team just dumped Marseille out of the UCL.

De Roon is an excellent player, been playing consistently well for one of the better Serie A sides.

He must have some good players around him in Greece then. I've nothing against him, decent professional, better than ok, but not that much better. I'm glad if he's doing well for himself.

Agree about de Roon, and with the point about him being played out of position for us: it wasn't best for him, but he probably was the best player in the squad for that position, so it was best for the team.

We signed him 2 months before Wilder took over.
Players not suiting a manager's playing style is an inevitable problem if you keep changing your manager in the middle of each season.
I think he would have fared better under Carrick, his movement was good and he played in defenders shoulders.
