Spike

My all time favourite Boro player, he had everything. If anything, his only weakness was a slight lack of pace. But boy, could he shoot, head a ball, tackle, cross a ball, and cover so much ground in a match.

Let's concentrate on Spike. Two of my favourite goals especially the free kick. To get the bend on a caser was really difficult in the 70's.

My favourite all time Boro player.

I was living and working in Southampton at the time he played for them. Take a look at this goals record for Southampton

Along with TFL, Souness and Mustoe he's up there for me.
Sneaking up last minute at the back post for corners. 😁

Up there with the very best who has worn a Boro shirt

He started his amazing unbeaten run on the 24th March 1973 & scored the winning goal to guarentee promotion (though it was more or less guarenteed alot earlier) on the 23rd March 1974

Registered No490, he played 416, 3 as sub, scoring 73 goals between 1971-1981, a great servant to the Boro
