Southgate confirms Henderson still not fit to start

How can we take a player that is still not fit. Surely with maguire also a doubt that’s a risky strategy in key players that just are not fit.

True but we have 3 extra squad places so can take them I suppose. More concerning is why there are only 5 midfielders with one being Henderson. Ward-Prowse should definitely be going imo.

Am more worried about Maguire.

John Stones fills me with no confidence at all. Talented lad but looked on the verge of a major rick for the whole of the CL final, very nervy. Especially without Maguire leading the defence I think international class strikers might eat him alive.

Henderson’s great, a proper leader so worth taking just for that, and I think the cover we’ve got in midfield is better than the cover at centre back - Bellingham’s a special, special talent, might end up being the best player of all of them.

Coady & Stones vs Mbappe & Benzema though is nightmare fuel.

I could have accepted Southgate taking a gamble on Henderson if he'd selected 6 midfielders. I'm just hoping now Ward-Prowse will replace TAA.

I can see Henderson and TAA being replaced. Probably by JWP and either Lingard or White. Depends if GS thinks he has enough defenders or not. I think White is a useful squad player though.

It's a strange one.

With Alexander-Arnold potentially out, I'd say we have to take Lingard or Ward-Prowse as we've only limited numbers of midfielders even if Henderson was fully fit.
I'd go for Ward-Prowse.

Now TAA looks to be crocked, I think he'll take Lingard. He done himself justice last night in a bit of a drab game. That touch for the goal was sublime and the difference between 0-0 and 1-0. Small margins are huge at this level. JWP is brilliant at set pieces but isn't as creative.

I agree with our CB's. I'm concerned about Stones being our number one with Coady and Mings fighting for another spot. I'd be tempted to play Walker center half and play Reece James right back.
