Southampton up for sale.

That will be interesting to see what that sells for , I wonder what a buyer would prefer Newcastle or th tropical climate of Southampton with lower fan base .

Tropical?? Its a working city with no beaches or real public coastal access. Its crowded, expensive, the people are miserable gets and the sun shines 2 days a year. Lived there for 8 years.

The fanbase is pretty broad, it captures a lot from the surrounding New Forest as well.

There in probably shows the problem with the premier league. They might get 170mill a year or whatever but to sustain that position costs more in player wages and player investment.

Like i mentioned many moons ago it makes sense for the man utds of this world to pay 100mill out for the top players because player inflation keeps them and a few other clubs sitting pretty at the big table.

The top clubs simply can not allow the others to catch up and lose their 'global branding' so when people say paying 150 mill for Harry Kane is madness etc. It makes perfect sense really as it keeps the chasing pack out of reach.

Its also why i think Ste G is deluded if he thinks our best days are ahead of us. Good luck to him though of course

I think it’s not just about what you get coming in it’s what you do with it . Making sure bricks and mortar are paid ( or funds set aside to cover it ) for is possible a good safety first strategy for a club like ours.

The people are not miserable gets. They are some of the finest people on God’s green earth...

£250M.

cheap as theyre in the prem and guaranteed £170M a season
Unfortunately even with that level of income they still lose money just about every year (the only recent season they've made a profit was when they sold Van Dijk to Liverpool for £75m)

Yes but it’s a sailing paradise there. Hamble, Bursledon. Sure to attract the billionaires with sizeable sea craft. 🚤

Sailing apart, it’s a horrible city, the congestion is ridiculous it takes forever to go a few miles, wages are poor yet house prices are astronomical, there are some lovely places nearby but I certainly wouldn’t want to live there.

Bit like London and Manchester then.

Really?

The above message is in no way related to the fact my missus is from Southampton.

Ah, self preservation. Gotcha.

Hamble and Bursledon aren't really Southampton. They just got caught up in the expansion into the burbs. And Burseldon isn't anything special either. Its like Howards Way developed a meth habit.

Yep, this is my opinion of the place. I used to live and work in the centre, right near the Itchen bridge. To do 2 miles took 45 minutes. I found a place just outside of Soton when we moved house that was lovely.

Acklam.......
