Souness v Case 1977

Remember the incident so well. Stood in the Anfield Rd that day. We had just gone behind to that David Fairclough super sub wonder goal and the frustration was building up.
 
A packed Anfield with kids sitting in the rafters. And missing the 'special' at Lime St by seconds. That was a long day.
 
Sat in Kemlyn Road stand right up next to the Kop. If we'd collected the coins that came from them we could have retired. Dad got one on the nose right next to his eye. Only time I've known my Dad leave early and be anxious on the way back to our car.
Hell on in the Anfield Rd end.
I was shocked and gutted afterwards. Another one that was going to be our year. See also visits to Birmingham, Orient and Wolves. It beggars belief we didn't make Wembley in one of those four years.

We didn't even make a semi.
 
I once stole a slice of black pudding from underneath Jimmy Case's right ear. He was asleep, face-down in his 'Gutbuster' breakfast at the time (approx 3 a.m., Market Diner, Brighton)
