May be a stupid question, but I’ve never actually seen him play. Is he remotely close to the standard of being our no 1 next season?

He’s obviously been with us a while, is he progressing, or just destined to be a league 1/2 keeper all his career?

I wouldn't be to displeased if he starts the season as our main keeper. Looked good and comfortable on the ball last season the few times I watched him. Highly thought of by coaching staff

Can he play the way Carrick wants in terms of being part of the passing movements/ball retention at the back ? Or is he more of a traditional keeper ? I personally put most stock on being able to deal with crosses into the box than most other attributes. A keeper who can dominate the area for corners and set-pieces is invaluable.

Just from a very small number of highlights I've seen, he can play the way we play... The problem is the difference in class between top end championship and league 2.

We loaned Jack Robinson, Calum Kavanagh and Daniel Dodds out to L2 last season too, two of which have been released.
We released Sam Folarin and Connor Malley the season before who both ended up in L2 too... I hope Brynn succeeds, but they're all an absolute mile away from our squad.

Good point, but none of them were voted player of the season for their respective clubs, also I personally don't think goalkeeping wise the gap is as big between divisions as it is for players.

Roberts was voted player of the season at his L2 club before we signed him. I like Roberts as a backup but I don't think he's anywhere near a top end championship #1.

If we want Brynn as our future #1 (which I do), he needs to go out and play as many games as possible at a higher level - so Leyton Orient in L1 is perfect for him.

Having him here as our 2nd or 3rd choice this season won't do him any favours - Roberts has played over 120 more league/cup games than Brynn (nearly 3 full seasons worth).

Interesting point on the Boro Breakdown podcast regarding Brynn winning Swindon's POTY. It was done via a voting system and they forgot to add the lad who was pretty much unanimous POTY for them as an option, hence Brynn winning it

Would hate to be a goalie. You either play every week or just sit there watching and waiting for an injury or your teammate to have one or two nightmares!

I agree 99% of the time... but I would love to be Scott Carson.

Bad luck for him and Orient by the look of it. He got very good reviews for their first game and the replacement struggled by all accounts on Saturday
