So Mick Lynch was right then

Mr Merriman (MP) also admitted on Wednesday that rail disputes have now cost the Government more money than settling them would have, as it props up the losses caused by the strikes.

Facing questions from MPs on the Transport Select Committee, Mr Merriman admitted “it’s actually ended up costing more than would have been the case if it was just settled,” but stressed the importance of looking at the “overall impact on the public sector pay deals” amid anger at pay in other sectors.

RMT general secretary Mick Lynch suggested that Mr Merriman had “admitted” the dispute had been prolonged “as part of a deliberate strategy” to keep down the pay of “nurses, ambulance workers and teachers”.

“The interests of businesses, rail workers and passengers have been sacrificed to a wider public sector pay agenda,” he said.

Tory voters and apologists enable all of this - they are to blame.

It shows how clueless they are because even the admission of it costing more is incorrect. The cost might be higher this year but it is a one off. The recurrent cost of increasing pay will be that amount every year and any future rises will be from a higher base.

It's the same nonsense they use when they talk about inflation. They are on about getting inflation down but if wages don't increase to match this year's inflation then it will never be recovered.

Everything they do is designed to create division or benefit themselves and their donors.
From the many scandals of the pandemic through to Truss's maniacal budget and on to now they are just piling on the pain felt due to their "economy saving" austerity measures.
Should be voted out and never allowed back, but sadly, as the BBC showed this morning, some people in Blackpool have never heard of levelling up. Just goes to show how little political engagement we have in this country and it's that which allows these things to go on without challenge.
