Snooker/Billiards/Pool...

As far as playing snooker in Middlesbrough now, a lot of my mates have joined the Conservative Club near the Little Theatre. It is not political like it used to be. I haven’t been in for years, the last time in the 1980s when you had to wear a tie and a bloke used to set the balls up and shout you when it was your turn to play! However, I think it still has five snooker tables.
We play in the Erimus club, walk past the Conservative club on the way, I hear its easy to get a table in there but I just couldn't bring myself to cross it's threshold

I used to be quite good at pool and captained The Broadway pool team for a while in the 80’s
Could never make the step up to be classed as very good
As for snooker I reached my heights with a 27 break in the Steelies.

bastrd... :D I keep saying we should replace the dining table. Never happened... Can I pop round and pay you 20p a game?

Get one of the combined ones, look like a dining table but the top the top lifts off to reveal a pool table 😁

The Cowpen club in Billingham still has a dedicated pool/snooker room with plenty of tables
That's where I used to play with our old feller whenever I was home for the weekend. And Billingham Town on the Saturday if Boro were away. That was before Parkinsons robbed him of life's simple pleasures.

Thought he had it at the end. That brown to blue was so unfortunate/careless.

You should sue for negligence...
Yeah same here, Selby is such a machine....
Hawkins was 4th in the year rankings list so worth a punt at 40/1
Couldn't have got any closer to getting through but Trump next up for Selby 👍

Did so well to keep coming back from two frames down. It's a funny sport where I rarely want either player to lose. Maybe I should start having a flutter but then I'd just end up jinxing the poor b***ds (like you did :ROFLMAO:).

Trump next up for Selby
Hope they're both firing on full cylinders. Could be a cracker.

After reading the Ronnie thread, it made me think. I used to be VERY VERY good and table ball games. i.e. I'd go to the Linny at 14/15 drink a pint of coke and put in 20p, then with winner stays on, I would play all night for that 20p. I learned from playing billiards in the Emirus club on a Saturday morning from 10/11 how it worked, angles etc

Does anyone still play? I went to a place in Hartlepool last year and paid £6 to play on my own. It doesn't appear to be that popular now? Anywhere local that you can go and pot a few balls on you own? local as in Marton?
Aye still play in the erimus
