Sir Nigel Gresley passes through Teesside

Although this might be late for most of us to see it pass through Teesside, it is going to be at the North York Moors Railway and enthusiasts will get the chance to see it there.

After departing from Thirsk at 1.05pm, it is due to pass through Teesside and you'll be able to see it along the route, including at the stations below:

• Eaglescliffe 1:35pm
• Thornaby 1:40pm
• Middlesbrough: 1:45pm
• Gypsy Lane 1:53pm
• Nunthorpe 1:58pm

At incredibly short notice it seems. My dad would have loved to have gone to see this I’m sure but this morning is the first I’ve heard of it and it’s too short notice to ‘prepare’ my dad and arrange taking him out of the carehome.sadly he won’t be able to have a day out to NYMR due to his health but 30 mins to an hour out would’ve possibly been doable.

Did the old Nunthorpe to Guisborough line run past your house - closer than what the Esk Valley is?

Edit: Just found an image, it looks closer to Pinchinthorpe than your house.

Yeah I think you’re right Alan. That line is now the cycle way from Charltons to Nunthorpe.

Not sure if you can get over to the mainline between York and Durham as there will be a black 5 running as a special - will be flying past Darlow but is stopping at Durham on Saturday 29th March. Timings not released yet but you can keep checking for updates here
