The whole thing is just a continuation of privilege the establishment, it stinks and no one should be surprised that Jo Johnson and May's husband are in the club

Never read it carefully enough. The whole honours system is archaic and should be done away with. I assume he's only getting it because of who he's married to and she IS responsible.
I'd say it's corrupt and about ensuring undue political influence for the rich and their mates, rather than just archaic (it is that as well)

Pretty sure Jo Johnson was a figure of admiration on here when he resigned from the cabinet.... now he’s the anti Christ
I do admire that he resigned, however I don't think anyone should be given lifelong influence on politics without any public recourse to get rid of them. I especially don't think people from the same privileged and influential families should do so. These views are not incompatible at all, but thanks for your bias input.

And Dennis wasn’t?
Doesn't look like it, it was his in his own right as far as I understand, it's hereditary and the charming Mark is the current Baron.

The Thatcher baronetcy, of Scotney in the County of Kent, is a baronetcy created for the husband of Margaret Thatcher, Denis Thatcher, on 7 December 1990, following the resignation of his wife on 28 November. The current holder is Mark Thatcher, who succeeded his father in 2003.

Thatcher was given the barontecy and Dennis got his knighthood at the same time as a result. No other reason than as spouse of Thatcher.
Fair enough, don't know why I bothered commenting really, whether Denis was a knight of the realm by his own efforts or those of his odious missus is a non-issue compared to the damage she did.

Who has said he's the anti christ? Or even criticised his character in any way?

Seems a bit dodgy given its the PMs brother, which is what has been commented on. Assume from your response you don't see anything wrong with it then?

When you give out honours for political support it isn’t really an “honour” of great distinction. It’s merely a gift.
A "gift"- your word - that puts you in a position where you are party to passing laws that affect everybody. What's that got to do with democracy? It's corruption, nothing more and this rabble have plumbed new depths with it. The whole mess should be consigned to the history books and we should have an elected second chamber, warts and all, but above all, elected.

Democratically elected - none of this first-past-the-post pseudo democracy.
