Sir David Attenborough

The man's got a voice that makes you want to go to sleep, is full of trust and sounds like it should be reading you a lullaby. His topics are knowledge and so interesting that you daren't blink in case you miss something.

What a man, what a life and what an inning. Someone who fully deserves the title' Sir.'

Happy birthday Sir David.

As well as his astonishing and ongoing legacy of nature programmes, he's also the man who pretty much gave us BBC2 as we know it. He was made channel controller in the mid 60s when it was failing. He completely turned it around by commissioning Match Of The Day, Man Alive, Pot Black, Monty Python, The Old Grey Whistle Test, Call My Bluff and others, and the channel never looked back.

my only issue with him is that as an environmentalist, I though he was very late to the party. he must/ought to have known what was going on in the natural world years ago & never spoke up, but is a very late convert. he's a bit too bbc'ish for me personally, but I can see why he's loved.
