Since we lost to Cardiff in the 2008 FA Cup quarter-final...

16 years ago, we've had a lot less to get excited about than we did for the 20 or so years before that.

So what have been your personal highlights?

The initial false dawn under Mogga was quite enjoyable, initially.

Goes without saying some of the great Karanka football in 2014/2015, beating City, a great performance beating Brentford in the play-offs (before the Wembley fiasco), followed by promotion the year after and that great day v Brighton.

Play-off campaign under Pulis (which didn't meet expectations)?

Resurgence under Warnock, lifting our spirits during the awful pandemic?

Fantastic 2/3 of a season under Carrick (ending with play-off failure).

Beating Spurs, United and Chelsea? I'm scraping the barrel now.

Another personal highlight for me, though was, on a very snowy/sleety Saturday in January, I think under Mogga, when Rhys Williams went to play a long ball/clearance up the touchline and completely mishit it, falling over sideways into a big pile of wet snow. Great times. Anyone else remember it?

Witnessing us smashing Sunderland 4-0 in their own back yard earlier this year was a good highlight, especially when they were the pre match favourites.

1995-2006 clearly offered a lot more excitement for us as fans. I actually think we took that period for granted.

This generation (a long with the future) of fans will very likely not witness anything remotely close to that 11/12 year period we had, especially with the money in today's game.

I think the best we can hope is being a Crystal Palace type of club....basically a PL club by merit, and one that is very safe from relegation, but one which will unlikely break into the top 10.

I think you're right. That's the best we could ever hope for as things stand I think, and even that is a million miles off.

The thirty years before that wasn't exactly a dream.

The Premier League babies have been spoilt. ;)

Things could turn round quickly for Boro, I hope, because Carrick’s lads seem to only have 2 extremes. These are when the lads have a few wins and we think that no one in this league could touch us, or we lose a couple of games and we appear relegation bound.
We are in the latter stages unfortunately and playing Norwich does not look likely to end our disastrous run. But then you never know.

I think an honourable mention should go to the match that can only be labelled as 'the Kink match'. When Tarmo was unleashed in the latter stages of a likely 1-0 defeat at home to Burnley, before smashing in two late piledrivers from distance to give us the points.... No one, in the entire stadium, was saying he was crap on their way home that night.

Took it for granted, Hit the nail on the head there!

I remember coming out of games, that we'd just won, and saying that was $hite as if we should have scored 5 more goals.

I now realise what an awesome time it was for us Boro fans.

Sat at the 20th anniversary the other night seeing Juno bolo George etc really hit home how far we have fallen now.

How after all that time and work to get back to the top flight did we throw it away again so easily.

It’s still baffling how we could have been so inept.
