Sikhs facing increased racism...

Went to a Sikh temple with my ex as she was a teacher and was going to take her class to help them learn about other cultures, so has to go do a risk assessment

Went to a big one in Sunderland. Was a pretty good day and everyone was so welcoming. You either took food to donate or money which goes to the poor, and after the service you get fed a meal and everyone helps out from the cooking, serving and cleaning up, then got given a box of home made sweets. They had no idea we were going, was just a standard day. So friendly and the food was great!

I had a very similar experience in Middlesbrough. They were all so very friendly and welcoming.

This is an interesting article , it seems it may not be going up so much as being reported more. Seems to stem from 9/11 times and lots of confusion with people not having the brains to differentiate between Sikhs and Muslims.

I see Laurence Fox is mentioned in there , who is that guy?

Sikhs have religion just about right. Whilst my wife and I are atheist, she said, after a visit to a sikh temple, if she had to choose she would become sikh.

As an interesting aside I spend a lot of time in India and in a country where they treat visitors like gods, Sikhs still stand out as more giving, loving and accepting. I must have been hugged dozens of times over the years by sikhs for such things as, change for parking, showing a child a magic trick, taking a family photo. They absolutely believe we are all brothers and sisters and everyone is welcome in their temples providing you are not under the influence of drugs

Agree with all of the above. The only 'problems' I've ever had in my life; be it a beating, intimidation etc, always came from a 'white' person.

And, yes, never met a warmer, giving, friendlier group of people that the Sikh community and it boils my **** to hear about this intimidation.

The implication (not from you I might add) that it would be ok to be racist to Muslims

I actually saw this once on a programme about the Far Right. They were giving some grief to some Pakistani lads and chatting regularly to some lads from Indian background. When the journalist asked why they were picking on one group, but not the other, the replay was 'They're Hindu, they're fine... the 'Pakis' are muslim'!!! Speechless!

Only white people responsible. Remember that.

Someone will be along soon saying they know some BAME people who are racist.

I agree with you - it is something we are very good at. In fact we are on a good run - 300 years or so of supremacy.

Support what? The acknowledgement that prejudice, bigotry, discrimination, etc. in Britain isn't exclusive to white Brits? Please don't tell me you're this naive and ignorant.

I may be naive and ignorant. It depends on the benchmark.

Here we have an OP about racism aimed at Sikhs.
In the world we live in there are many (hence the ‘support) who, rather than condemn that will introduce racism to whites.
Personally I’m just anti bigotry

Further, the leader of our country is in the company of (amongst others) Burma, China, USA In using bigoted language about non whites and non heterosexuals which leads to hatred and violence.
Its an elite club.
