Remember reading a thread about Shropshire on here a while back and we are off for a holiday there in a few weeks.

Any recommendations on places to visit, things to do etc.

Cheers.

If the weather is nice, then Carding Mill valley, near Church Stretton is a lovely place for a walk. The Kings Arms in Church Stretton is a good pub for a meal afterwards.

Ironbridge is not too far away - that is lovely.

Blists Hill Victorian Town is worth a visit.

The Pound Inn Taphouse - is a great pub if you are a pie lover.

Bridgnorth for the Severn Valley Railway. Enjoyable trip down to Bewdley and back

I enjoyed a morning at Ludlow castle and an afternoon at the races. It has a lovely small market town centre and some nice places to have a bite. (Races wont be on till jumps season though)

Thanks for all the suggestions so far.

Definitely intend to do a bit of walking while I’m there.

Bridgnorth is a lovely little place. Top real ale pub at the SVR station. Head down to Bassa Villa for a few pints overlooking the Severn. The Eurasia is a great Indian restaurant too.

Ludlow is near perfect town for the retired usually middle class - Old fashioned Country Market with good selection fo fresh produce in the Town Centre.

Classic large ruined castle

Large Food festival

Nice little theatre

Very safe and pretty uncongested

Cafes with old fashioned waitresses in uniform

Old English Pubs left over from a different age such as Blue Boar

Antique shops

Its a bit off the beaten track which has in the past kept commuters away and kept property prices reasonable.

A bit like Richmond (North Yorks)
