Buffaloboro, that's a good question and it's for individuals to decide, I'm just giving my opinion. A different name - how about collecting the funds and doing it in the name of one of our local children's charities, providing of course they agree?
Sounds good to me

I'm not sure, I haven't looked that deeply.
Don't think I can. Looks like we have enough to make this viable. I'll email the club and maybe we could sort other stuff out like the cash etc. I'll ask them if we could pay directly to them etc and about possibly representing a local charity

This is a great thing that you have pulled together here.
Fantastic that the message board can work in this way. And hopefully it can serve as an example of how other groupings of people can get on board to sponsor players.
I have spoken with Helena from the Foundation this evening and am hoping to have a zoom chat sometime when we can mull over ideas of how we can help the support them in their work. Obviously they have no matchday collections to pick up funds and also don't have that opportunity to showcase their community work.

My emails all have paypal accounts that are tied up to business. What is the best way to do this fundraising account wise?

I'll be happy to chip in for this reckon Saville maybe a good shout for the player as he will actually play alot of games and maybe even score a few. The thing with Nathan Wood is he'll be sat on bench until say FA CUP game.

We need a charity that will allow us to raise money for them and obviously use their name as a sponsorship.
Then surely once we have contacted them they will have an account already set up in which we can donate.
because we need to get a minimum amount to sponsor the player personally I think that all those who agree to sponsor should pay an equal amount.

So from what I can see we need to do the following :
1 ascertain how many people are willing to contribute towards the charity sponsorship.
2 work out what the total cost will be per person.
3 decide which charity that we hope to sponsor and contact them to see if indeed they would be willing to do so.
4 contact the club to see which players are left that can be sponsored.
5 Pay your money, kick back and relax and feel like you've got a little bit more of a vested interest in the season.

I am happy to make phone calls to anyone just need to know what people think and if I've missed any points in the above list.

I think Betty might be a good choice. I know he's had a bit of a naff start but he'll play most weeks I reckon, he's got the number 1 shirt so we'd be top of the page in the program, and probably more likely to get a decent save in the twitter highlights regularly than backing a midfielder hoping they suddenly start scoring goals.

Nathan Wood (unless the fly boys want to go for Patrick Roberts)
sponsored by FMTTM (anything else would be a waste imo)
one signed shirt to one of the group and and one signed shirt to be auctioned for charity of our choosing. something football related would by be canny like a local disabled team needing some equipment. covid masks for powerchair football maybe?

As most of the first team players have been selected, wouldn't it make sense to pick a player that is likely to be used from the bench the most. I would imagine a player that is substituted regularly is going to have a bigger impact than one not used so much!

As it has now been decided that this is going to be a charity thing, I am now happy to play my part and chip in....let me know how and when and I will chuck in my share!

There are only a certain group of players left (check my. Other posts).
We are voting on whether it's going to be in the name of a charity or not.
Please message me if interested.
