Should the UK have an IRON DOME DEFENCE. Surely it’s an ESSENTIAL?

Israel managed to ward off an attack from Iran with their missile defence system recently.
Surely Britain should be similarly equipped especially in this these warmongering times when a few countries run by maniacal leaders have such systems?
It was suggested by a politician that such a system is a necessity and regardless of which party made the suggestion I think it’s an enhancement we need.

From a quick Google search -
Israel land area is approximately 22k square miles.
UK land area is approximately 244k square miles.
So there’s the problem. £££££££££££££££££

From an article that came up when I googled the cost of the iron dome -

‘Yehoshua Kalisky, a researcher at the Tel Aviv-based think tank Institute for National Security Studies, told The Wall Street Journal that Israel spent more than 2.1 billion Israeli shekels (over $550 million) to repel the Iranian barrage during the course of a single night. The Israel-based news website Ynet News estimated the cost at double that — more than $1 billion.’

Personally, I’d like the country to spend money repairing the basic infrastructure that the Tories have completely ****ed first.

What exactly are we defending against that we currently can't manage?

Where is the nearest starting point for such an attack?

Other than the arctic wouldn't our allies be better placed to have such a shield - if the bombs reach the UK then we're pretty much screwed regardless.

Unless Ireland randomly decided to attack us, which it obviously won't, there's nobody even close to us who isn't a direct military ally.

Most countries hostile to the UK are far away and we have dozens of ally countries in between us and them.

It's not needed.

Israel is tiny and directly borders multiple hostile countries.

Was it by any chance a Tory who said that?
Probably licking their lips at the prospect of some juicy weapons manufacturing company directorships for themselves in the future, or brown envelopes.
