Should the Conservative Party be Proscribed?

Are we reaching a point in time where the country's very existence hangs in the balance? We've all seen the post-Brexit disaster this country has become and should thank people like Small Town for continuing to bang that drum whilst most other people have 'moved on'. If we continue to let corrupt, self-serving conservatives have their way with this country, food shortages, fuel shortages, NHS shortages, HGV driver shortages etc will be the least of our worries.

But all those shortages are at least 'fixable' in some way, shape or form. The one shortage I cannot see a way out of is that of empathy. Rayner had it right. No right thinking person could look at the Tories and see anything but a sneering evil group of cretins. Their policies have, as a fact, killed thousands across the country and beyond and their fomenting of racial tensions and active fight against equality and freedoms run the very real risk of race riots/murders etc in the future.

So if that's the case, why continue allowing the party to run the country? Now, I know a lot of you will immediately hit back with cries about "democracy" but democracy is nothing but a vehicle towards better outcomes. It's not an end in itself. We ban National Action, Nazis, and other breeds of fascist, so why not a party very nearly as evil?

We should still encourage democracy and voting and popular inclusion in the political process, but surely within common sense rules? The overton window has widened to insane proportions. I say that we set a charter of what we want to be as a country and who we are. Within that, there is plenty room for reasonable disagreement and policy change, but could it be that allowing the continued r*ping of our country and killing of its most vulnerable is just a step too far?

The problems lie much deeper than one party, although I don't disagree with anything OP, you say about them.

Ban them and something just as bad will spring up in their place.

One of the biggest problems is our voting system, closely followed by our Constitution (or lack of one).

Parties don't actually have to be that popular to win a majority and once they have that majority there are very few effective checks and balances to prevent them abusing that majority.

The majority of people (albeit not as big a one as it should be) can see through this government and what they are. Yet they are largely powerless to stop them. A (large) minority of selfish, uninformed/gullible or in some cases just plain thick voters keep forcing this government on the rest of us time and again and the system allows it to happen.

Mine was a sarcastic remark however, regardless of colour be it Blue, Red, Green or yellow they will not please all and are in it for themselves. Things will never change and politicians will never stop lying to get to where they want to be without a care in the World. Labour won't re-join the EU, they may tell you they will but won't and neither will the rest of the shysters.

Although I would consider banning this particular incarnation of the Conservative Party, on the grounds of competence but also because it has been the subject of a fairly extreme and deranged far right takeover, in general it is not a good idea to remove the main voice for those on the right.

We all benefit from effective opposition. Instinctively we tend to fall in to two camps for the most part and it is likely that those instincts balance out on which side is instinctively right.
