GP's do all right, that is true, but in a hospital there is no natural promotion from junior doctor, you have to wait until something opens up, it can take years. Doctors are very poorly paid. Once you factor in the hours, very few earn the minimum wage. The average time for a doctor to stay a junior doctor is just over 7 years. For that entire period they are paid terribly.It doesn't stay low though.
Our local GPs average £70k.
As for your local GP, it's probably a bit more than that but I earn more than that too.
