Shocking scenes in Bristol tonight

There were power cuts under Heath and mass unemployment under Thatcher, Major and Cameron.

You just hate organised labour. Which is quite a stance.
After weeks on strike a British Steel and then being asked to fly picket on a £1 a day and then to watch King Arthur turn up in his Jag has left a bitter taste in my mouth for years. Three of our household were at BSC in them days getting no income whatsoever, we all vowed that never want to go through that ever again or vote Labour.

'We are all equal, just that some are more equal than others'

Disgraceful scenes.

The perpetrators should face the heaviest possible sentences.

You almost feel some people want to see more of this kind of behaviour, to validate their political views.

Did you say the same when Thatcher demonised football fans, as violent racist thugs who can't behave themselves so need to all be behind fences? Did you think that maybe it was a small section of football fans that were violent, and that it wasn't football that was the underlying cause but the lack of opportunity they faced? Same here, most people in support of BLM, and green causes, and against authoritarian laws are not violent, and their message and right to vote shouldn't be diminished, just as our right to watch football shouldn't have been impacted the way it was.
My recollection of the average 80s hooligan was of gangs of lads dressed in expensive Italian tracksuits, similar trainers that had the cash to travel the length of the country causing mayhem on a weekly basis. I knew plenty of them and trust me not many of them suffered from a lack of opportunity. Many were intelligent lads with good jobs that got a buzz from from the violence and what they saw as camaraderie . When I was getting grief on the Fulham Road in 88 it wasn’t off a load of victims of social deprivation I can assure you. I agree the football wasn’t the cause but these people weren’t worrying about where their next meal was coming from.

You almost feel some people Aelfric compliant with these serious erosions of their freedoms to validate their political views.

There, put that right for you.

Sorry to hear that.

Scargill has had his own party since 1996.

Haha as if people think they are just protesting against this policing act.

It's lots of things, was obviously going to boil over when you lock your population up for 12 months for committing no criminal offenses.

So the way out of being locked up is to bring on the Third Wave?

Whilst the behaviour of some of the protesters was wrong that doesn't change their overall agenda. They are protesting to protect us all. Let's not forget there were a handful of injuries, how many have died under Johnsons murderous regime as a direct result of him.

Neither are accidental.

I do find it fascinating that 140000 can die and we all sit at home. A couple of broken bones and many are appalled. There is no balance in those reactions.

HR partial quotes of a universally damaging bill is telling. Some just don't see what the government are doing. They are blind and part of the problem.

Covid stopped being the main existential threat to the British people the minute vaccines were approved.

I’d have arrested as many as possible and hit them with the maximum penalties . There are people still dying daily and these people think it’s ok to meet in the thousands bunched together like cattle. Then the idiots causing all the trouble . 20 police officers injured and 2 serious . Disgraceful. They are mindless yobs and should be treated as such . Leave the politics to one side and just look at the ignorance of the law . It astounds me

Two seperate issues in my opinion.

The right to peacefully protest against what they see as a bill that is against our rights.

The other is when you compare the fact that 20+ officers have been attacked & injured, allegedly one was sat in a van that was set alight, 'protesters' walked up to a police line and had a **** in front of them against a virus that no-one was to blame for it's horribleness and mayhem it has caused.

You see this is the issue now, everybody has become entrenched on their side of any argument, whether that's Brexit, lockdowns, how we should handle Europe etc

There are some on this thread who are very close to condoning the violent actions of a minority at the protest yesterday and for that they should hang their heads in shame.

We have 5 times the average world mortality rate for covid, that should astound you more.

There are some on this thread that condone the actions of a murderous government, perhaps they should feel some shame too.

Stop diverting from the point.

People have attacked other human beings and injured 20+ , saying but what about this government is a different argument.

First & foremost why would you even try and justify their actions.

Because they are angry and feel they and others are being marginalised by the government. I don't condone violence but I understand the depth of their feelings.

The government's failings are not a different subject either. It's exactly the same subject one led to the other.

Lets face it - Last night had nothing to do with the Crime and sentencing bill.

This is yet another "peaceful protest" hijacked by an organised bunch of thugs with their own agenda - objectives that they can never achieve through the ballot box
