You do wonder how much of the American neo cons' seemingly inexhaustible supply of dollars finds its way into the trousers of British politicians.

“Popular conservatism is the answer and we should be a patriot of this nation alone. A friend of every country, but conscious of the one that is ours and whose interests we must put first.”

Put this nation first, but move his business to Ireland and island tax-havens.

Who the hell would want to listen to what she has to say about anything? The worst PM ever.

She's made for life financially, which is ironic considering what she did to the country financially within just a few days. Why does she not sidle quietly off with her massive pay-out for delivering utter failure?

Mixed feelings about this. On one hand, I have nothing but contempt for her and her politics.

On the other hand, who can she harm? Sunack certainly; division and infighting in the Tory party can only be a good thing. If she should achieve a coup, and a swing to the right within the Tory party, would that make them more electable? I'm not sure it would; her personal approval rating crashed through the floor, as did her credibility.

She'll never taste that level of power again but is instead something of a stalking horse. The serious contenders will be waiting to see how successful this misadventure is in terms of attracting the lunatic fringe of the tory party and Respect/UKIP-pers, and she'll be out again in favour of a more realistic contender.

It all emphasises just how out of touch she and her backers are though.
