Yesterday was a wet, windy, grey Friday - but the line always inspires.
No apologies for the photo quality.
Camera = Kodak CX3700 - 2004 - Auto Focus. No manual adjustment.

Horton in Ribblesdale - Welcome to Spring.

Crossing Ribblehead Viaduct looking East. Over the hill, above the tree-line, the exposed road leads to Hawes

Try: Book Trainline: https://www.thetrainline.com/
You might find it cheaper buying your Leeds - Carlisle return via Northern Rail: https://www.northernrailway.co.uk/
This is the new timetable:

You may be delighted to know that the T-Trolley is now available again!

Its not the usual corporate - its operated by a small company just for the Settle - Carlisle.🫖🍸🍰🍬🍵☕(y)

Many who work the line are members and supporters of "Friends of the Settle and Carlisle Line" [FoSCL - https://www.foscl.org.uk/ ]
The bookshops and cafes at the stations are run by volunteers - as are those who tend the gardens, paint the stations and keep the lines unique atmosphere.
I sometimes alight at Garsdale, then cycle over to Hawes: Sometimes Kirkby - then cycle up to Alston and Hadrians Wall.

The wife has booked us a trip for my birthday in September. Looks like it will be a great day out 👍

Great pictures capturing the flavour of the line. Charging towards Blea Moor tunnel on the footplate is thrilling, your head tells you it will all fit through the tunnel but there is a little doubt of what if?

Even with inclement weather its a wonderful experience.
Whenever I travel up to Swaledale, Teesdale, Whardale, Wensleydale - I always use that line, then get off and cycle over the top.
Great.
You`l have to tell us all about it when you get back. (y)

Firing a Black 5 up to Ais Gill summit must have been back - breaking. (y)
The Thames - Clyde Express used to comprise 10 bogies in early B.R days - change Driver and fireman at Leicester London Rd / Leeds City and Carlisle Citadel between St Pancras and Glasgow St Enoch.

Always something I've been meaning to do. Any tips or recommendations? Starting from Stockton.
Try and do it before the leaves are on the trees(or after) so you get the full majesty of the bleakness of it all. Start out via Leeds then to Carlisle then home via Newcastle as that line is decent as well. I think you can get a round robin ticket for it
