Service on the concourses

They did email fans before QPR that there was a shortage of beer and lager. And they have issued statements about staff shortages after the Bristol City game - but be to be fair to them they don't know how many/few staff are going to turn up until the actual day.
Yes they have contactless bars but see the answer above where staff were abused for not accepting cash at these kiosks.
It looked to me as if far more people stayed outside and were served from the Gary Philipson cafe/bar. When he announced 10 mins to kick off (or was it 15mins) there was a big surge of people heading for the turnstiles.
Tough gig if you don't know how many staff are going to turn up, not sure what to do about that.

Tell me about it, I asked for a 2018 Château Lafite Rothschild, and they had the audacity to bring me a 2019 Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon.

Its a disgrace.

Everyone knows the 2019 Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon doesn't go with a mince and onion pie.
It's a disgrace they don't update the wine list on a match by match basis and the craft ales just aren't on point😉

Got in about half 2 and queued for about 10 mins for a beer. Went down on 40 mins and was served just as the half time whistle blew. The queue was back up the stairs by then like. Must’ve just timed it right.

The biggest problem for the bars though is that they’re pulling pints (badly) one at a time like it’s a Sunday afternoon in a country pub.
Got in about five minutes after you and nearly missed ko, while I was waiting the person pouring was waiting between orders, could’ve been pulling pints ready, any decent bar at a mass event would do that.

East stand was a shocker again - not quite Bristol level but you had solid huge queues for food and drink from 2.20 onwards and pointless trying to get food or drink at half time if you wanted to see the start of the second half. - loads of people giving up and not bothering and a bit of a sickener for the club as they must have lost the opportunity for a lot of sales. All extra concessions shut in the East stand again used to get a pasta of bottle of beer there - the poor staff were run off the feet with a number of service points not being used? Assumed not enough staff due to COVID but fair play to those who worked Saturday as they were busy
"................... and took abuse from some who queued in card only queue and then demanded to pay in cash!"
Anyone abusing anyone at all should be chucked out and banned.
FFS-they are trying their best to serve people- abusing them doesn't make them any quicker or better.

Speaking of the SW upper concourse - did anyone else see the altercation at half time that looked to have left some poor guy with a hell of a swelling above his eye?

I noticed Fosters had been replaced with 'Export' in the south stand, anyone know who makes it?
I'm guessing Camerons as I know they also contract brew Fosters.

WTF is that?

Strange being a 4% "export" lager? Why not just actually use a known, decent export, or at least one that has some decent strength?

Poor effort on the label branding and label quality too.

Edit - looks like it's this https://www.lwc-drinks.co.uk/product-detail-page/?product=19100004-export-lager-50ltr

Or, to see it in a more positive way - they did anything they could to make sure they had beer available despite their suppliers letting them down due to huge numbers of issues.

I feel your pain. I ordered a claret and they had the nerve to serve me a Bordeaux

Yeah, I was assuming it was a choice, not a forced decision of course, but fair comment (y)

But I expect the club has a contract with the brewery, so if it was a forced (due to lack of supplies, I forgot Rob mentioned this), it's the breweries problem (and their cost), so they should (or be contractually obliged) have been able to get something "better" for the same cost to the club, if available.

Very slow service in the North stand on Saturday.

Took half an hour for me to get to the front of a queue that was only about 10 deep.
Admittedly there were 3/4 queues at that kiosk, so it's more than that but it still shouldn't take that long for 4 servers.

Ended up getting halves and wines as there was no time before kick-off by the time they finally served us.

I believe the contract is with Heineken who have had issues with Covid, Brexit and strikes. I can’t see how what they offered wasn’t “better” than Fosters.

I’ll happily criticise the club all day long for their mistakes and incompetence but this isn’t an issue of their causing as far as I can see.
