I thought he was alright.. the move to boro probably scuppered him. very much a confidence player and he needed games.. did ok at Sunderland in difficult circumstances.Fletcher was, is and always will be a heartless, useless, ****.
Not sure youāll find many Sunderland fans thinking he did āokā. Roundly ridiculed more like.I thought he was alright.. the move to boro probably scuppered him. very much a confidence player and he needed games.. did ok at Sunderland in difficult circumstances.
He was a better "footballer", but Britt was a far superior goalscorer obviously.I thought he brought much more to the table than Britt
The Watford move made sense for him.. how could he turn it down? His mentality wasn't right at the start.. I think he would have benefited from starting off in a lower league. Maybe the outcome would have been the same?He was a better "footballer", but Britt was a far superior goalscorer obviously.
Those saying Fletcher had no talent or whatever are way off the mark. Just look at some of the goals he scored, some were technically top drawer.
His problem was the mental side. Never seemed up for a battle. He's a big lad, but was easily bullied. The fact he jumped ship straight for Watford, presumably knowing he had fat chance of getting a game, says it all. Just doesn't have that competitive edge you need. Or as we say on here "heart the size of a pea"
Financially yes. From a footballing perspective it was a poor move. The Watford move made sense for him.. how could he turn it down? His mentality wasn't right at the start.. I think he would have benefited from starting off in a lower league. Maybe the outcome would have been the same?
were you watching a different player????I thought he was alright.. the move to boro probably scuppered him. very much a confidence player and he needed games.. did ok at Sunderland in difficult circumstances.
Akpim turned things around - Fletcher hasn'tPeople used to say this sort of stuff about Akpom.
My point is that Fletcher *could* turn things around. Nobody saw this coming from Akpom. You donāt go from schoolboy football to the edge of Manchester Unitedās first team without being incredibly good at football. Perhaps his body doesnāt stand up to the rigours of the professional game, maybe heās never played in a successful side that was playing well and full of confidence, maybe he has a bad attitude or low pain threshold or has lost his hunger orā¦ well who knows.Akpim turned things around - Fletcher hasn't
he waited till they went down before he started to score, which was great to seeDid he really only score 2 in that loan spell at the Mackems? Thought he got a few more than that.
Akpom had far more pedigree. He was tipped for the very top when a youth at Arsenal.People used to say this sort of stuff about Akpom.
He was a lanky skinny man child close up.I've not seen many with his physical stature be so useless in the air. I simply don't understand it.
He looked a right 'unit' up close.
Hadn't Britt sustained a serious knee injury though the season before we signed him?Prior to buying Britt, he'd scored 79 in 171 appearances, with 30 in 65 in the most recent season. You can understand a Ā£15m price tag.
Fletcher has scored 27 in 170 appearances in his whole carrer. Prior to us signing him he'd got 5 in 37, zero in 16 in his most recent season. 7m was either incredible incompetence or something fishy.
