Schrödingers Brexit

You’re correct that the majority of print media is controlled by the right. In a digital world of mass multi media it’s relevance is not what is was. Print media influences few under the age of 50
of course young people dont buy papers anymore but the print media still set the news agenda, the mail or the sun run a story, like for example markles alleged bullying , the story is shared across social media and come the tea time news its the lead story .

Ok quite simple. He obviously is very upset at the fact Great Britain has left the European Union . If it were otherwise I doubt he would have spent the last God knows how long creating thread after thread with multiple titles on the subject. Every thread creates he states his depression, anger and frustration at Brexit. Yet weeks earlier a big fat shaggy haired blonde man was touring the country shouting from the rooftops that if you voted for him his number one priority would be to get brexit done. And he voted for that man and the man went and did what he said he would do. The OP hasn’t stopped whinging about it since. It’s odd to me and if it isn’t to you that’s hunky dory. Each to their own but I wouldn’t sit and listen to a chain smoker complaining about his cough. From now on I promise I’ll ignore his whinging about the implementation of a policy he was told would happen if he put his cross where he did.

because as leader he would need to represent the party rather than his own personal view. it goes with the position.
Yep. The Labour Party went into the last election with a leader that didn’t really believe in its policy on Europe. He was more in line with the red wall voters that ironically did for him in the end.

If the print media still directed the opinion then Brexit would never have happened. Some people are stupid and open to manipulation but more than you’d give credit to aren’t.

The average voter age is over 55, and this is growing as the population grows older, and older people are more likely to vote, and when they do vote they vote for the right in droves. So print media is massively influential, on the largest group, that votes right, that's most likely to vote, and less likely to change their mind.

Then after print media, most of the remainder is relatively impartial (ish), or you have the likes of Facebook and Twitter which is tailored to the narrative the viewer wants.

So effectively is hard for the right-leaning oldies, to be swayed and the older they get the more right they go (or more anti-left).
The younger lot either look at more impartial sources or they head down the side that most suits their already established path, or how they're led on by others/ elders etc.

Also print media "headlines" tend to make more of a point, than another story on another page of the internet.

“There” sorry the pedant in me came out they’re 🤣 the overall narrative of the nation is negative towards Brexit a few right wing papers didn’t form my opinion or many others. I generally avoid right wing papers but find its best to dabble in both from time to time

What did form your opinion - a hunch?

I’m not dismissing your opinion. The right has controlled the narrative for years. I was asking why he thought we don’t have a leftist media when we do
I misread your post. It hoigjt you suggested the media was predominantly left wing. Didn't realise you talking about a single newspaper with a tiny circulation . Sorry.

Oh and Channel 4 news as well it has to be said.

No not at all. I know it goes against popular opinion but I’m on the left. Was just saying the left has a voice that they can use. I guess my version of left is a bit more capitalist than others views.

Oh, not a hunch, just an opinion based on a lack of evidence, filtered through a prism of motivated reasoning and confirmation bias. Way to go, you (y)
What else should i inform my opinions on? My experiences aren’t a hunch. Maybe they are misguided but only history will judge that
