Personally, i dont feel people should have to come out over their sexuality but i wonder if this was a pre emptive strike to future revelations...

i wonder if hes been cheating on his wife and will that be ok as its because he was investigating his sexuality?
 
I too think that possibly the media have something on him and he has decided to get it out there before they do.
 
Sadly, it probably means that The Scum or a similar paper was about to "out" him.

Our press, not only allowing our politicians to get away with lying on an almost industrial scale but sickeningly keen to serve up prurient titilation to their avid readership. Depressing isn't it?

Yes, I reckon some journo's caught him with his boyfriend, and Schofield's getting ahead of the "revelations" .. Personally, I reckon he's entitled to his own preferences, and, even though he's in the public eye, he's entitled to live his life without fear or prejudice. I wonder what his missus thinks about all this ?
 
Going on past there is likely to have been a story coming and he is heading it of to take the sting. Good luck to him - must have been difficult married and been gay.........now it doesnt seem a big deal , so what he has come out......20 year ago stars would see there careers go but not now ...it really isnt big news

I feel sorry for not just him but his family too. I hope everyone leaves him and his family alone to deal with this quietly and without the gaze of the sordid media, however unlikely that sounds.

He seems a really good guy and everyone deserves a little happiness. It must have been so difficult living a lie for so long. I wish him well on his journey
 
I remember always assuming he was gay when I first noticed him on the tele - was actually quite surprised when I found out he was married

Fair play to him anyway, but it shouldn't have to be regarded as a 'brave decision' to come out in this day and age.
 
I've just read the Daily Mail readers comments section on the story. I've come on here to restore my faith in humanity, which is saying something.

Nothing will change while being gay is news. I really don’t understand why people can’t see that.
 
Impressed by the lack of negative comments on here ... times have well and truly changed - maybe not all there yet but well on the way
 
I thought he would have come out years ago. In the UK TV world it hasn't held a lot of people back in the last 20 years. Graham Norton and Paul O' Grady are two examples of doing reasonable well. I agree outside of UK TV it could be more of a problem (coming out), particularly male sportsmen.
 
It’s a shame that people feel they are ‘required’ to be out . I guess that’s the price of fame
 
It shouldn't be an issue but it still is in this day and age. I guess people would start acting questions as I assume him and his wife will have a different relationship now.
