If Schalke get relegated to the third division (currently 15th) they will not get the license for the 3rd division due to their heavy debt of about €165m, essentially having to start over as an amateur club.

What about their super stadium ???

I think I’m right in thinking we could have ended up playing Shalke in the UEFA Cup Final as they were Sevilla’s semi final opponents… and we think we’ve fallen far since then!

I'm pretty sure 1860 found themselves in a similar position a few years ago. Although I think they somehow managed to wriggle out of being demoted to the Bayernliga (regional Division 4).

Since 2006, this is only their second season in the 2nd division.

We're currently on our 14th and until a few months ago, when Gibson wrote a huge chunk of them off, our debts were greater.

They've had some questionable dealings with their owners like. Horrible club anyway.
I always find it funny when what the rest of Europe regard as basket case clubs that brake the trend Schalke RB Leipzig girona psg and Roma etc are all what we would regard as standard operation model in the prem.

S04 have made a rod for their own backs, terrible transfers, mental wages, been a failing team for years. Most other clubs like you have mentioned are owned by states or part of a multi club business, I wouldnt put S04 in the same bracket.
