Scarborough

Evening all, so next week I'm coming upto Middlesbrough to visit family so looking at spending a few days going around to child hood places so wanting to go to Scarborough and wanting to to do seaside things does anyone know if there is open top buses running from the Harbour to Peasholm park

I believe there is a bust that runs along the front, they may run out an open top this time of year. I think the naval battle is still on as well, any childhood memory of Scarbados must have that in it.

You'll be disappointed all my childhood memories such as Tree Walk, Mr Marvels, Atlantis, Scalby Mills Fair, Kinderland are long gone ...

They do still have the open top buses. Apart from the OAT, Alpamere and Sealife Centre there hasnt been much investment in the North Bay (Kinderland/Mr Marvels and Atlantis sites have been left untouched with numerous failed developments which have failed to get off the ground), there's just holiday apartments/retail units where the corner cafe used to be. The indoor baths have just been demolished too.

Same story on the South Side ... Crows have taken over the amusement park, but nothing has been done with the Futurist site. Flamingoland appear to have pulled out and a large Observation Wheel currently sits on the site.

For fish and chips .. North Bay Fisheries near Peasholm Park. Theres limited free street parking just up from where the indoor baths used to be (its about £7 to park for the day in the council car parks) im not aware of any free parking on the South Bay before 6pm (its all disc/permit zones)

The Mere is a nice walk if it hasnt been raining

If your up as early as Monday get yourself to Whitby for the Regatta Fireworks Finale around 21.45

You can get an open topped bus all way from south to north bay and back again.
Naval warfare is still going (we went on a Thursday with the grandchildren and they really enjoyed it). There are queues at Peasholm Park when the gates open at 2pm for the 3:30 start - it's very popular. Prices are £4-50 adult and £2-50 children.
Don't forget the castle, and there's a Scarborough Eye now!
Hope you enjoy Scarbados. 🌞

Naval warfare is on Monday/Thursday/Saturday at 3.
Don't forget the North Bay Railway!
As well as Peasholm fisheries there's also Al Fresco sandwich shop plus Bella Rosa and Hideout cafes in the same row of businesses, you cant go wrong.
