I know, the season’s not over, but just humour me.

Which players do we absolutely have to keep hold of for next season?

I’d go Jones, Tav, Fry, McNair & Howson are absolute musts.

Crooks, McGree, Bola, Dijksteel & Coburn have done/shown enough.
 
Jones, McNair and Tavernier.

We could afford to lose Fry, even though I wouldn't want to.

Problem with Tav is he'll be in the last year of his contract next season, I think we may cash in if there's a good offer.
 
on a serious note Crooks, Jones, Fry for defo and I think next season we will see great players in McGree and Coburn.
 
If we can keep these players and bring in some quality additions in these vacant positions then we'll be pushing for automatic promotion.

There is time for Mcgree to make a big impact THIS season , starting v AFCB .
Sporar and Watmore should be starters if fit for the remaining games, Coburn, Balogun and Connelly to be impact subs.
Jones / Tav / Mcgree are as good as any in this league and should start for me if fit.
Crooks is on a poor run of form, And struggles with the high press game, but brings goals, so use him in front of the defence , and for set pieces.

Recruitment has been dissapointing when you look at our fringe players
Daniels/ Fisher/ Payero/ Siliki/ Ameobi / Olusanya / Hall have been underwhelming to say the least.
3 loan strikers is a big mistake, i hope we learn from it.
I hope all 3 come good for the run in , but I don't have much faith.

Didn’t we lose £30m last year. Even selling Spence I don’t think we will be able to turn bids down for certain individuals. If we want funds to spend then we’ll have to sell more than just Spence

Same here. Dijskteel and Fry are the ones who are going to get better and better.

I’d love to keep Jones, Howson, Tav, Watmore, Cockburn and probably Djiksteel
also
we’ll get parked before the game ok
we’ll get near the bar in the Navi
we’ll get served in the concourse in less that 30 minutes
we’d win more weeks than we lose (remember the misery of our last PL season)
We’d get away from the ground without having to deal with whatever jobsworths are trying to implement that weeks traffic management plan.

Spence is younger, more on his contract, plus the position he plays is very ‘in’

Tavernier has gone a little more under the radar, he’s played a number of positions and has been underrated in most. I could see him going to Leeds if we don’t go up.
 
Well if we don't Gibson will back Wilder and we will end up in the top two regardless of who drops down from the Prem.
With regards to the OP strength in depth and team spirit are key to getting out of the Championship not individuals.
If we don't make it this season I wonder if the Cup run did us any harm?

Why would Tav be worth more out of interest?

Spence is one of the star performers in the form team in the league who are challenging for automatic promotion.

Yeah - I mentioned on another thread that Leeds would be the obvious choice. The way they play - outgoing and attacking would suit his style.
Plus he was born in Leeds and was a LUFC fan.
