Saudi Sports Washing

I don’t understand sportswashing. To me they're still despicable but now they’re despicable and own football clubs 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Sports washing is using their influence to buy sports and host events like the World Cup ( a long term goal) to put forward a softer side to the harsher reality.

Yeah but tell that to the Geordies. They absolutely love them. Never mind the odd beheading, just lovable scamps really who've given them their club back etc 🙄

Yeah. But that’s not what I meant, I meant how does buying sports events make people think they’re actually a charming bunch of misunderstood people.

It allows them global access they wouldn’t normally have and it gets them in rooms that were previously closed to them.
